Prices on your web site..(??)

Pros:
People calling will know what to expect.
No more price shoppers

Cons:
Phone won't ring as often.
Limits the amount of people that you can "sell"

I put prices on my site this last spring and I actually seemed to get more inquiries.

It's all in how you word it. On mine I put "Weddings starting at only $995." and then an "includes" underneath.

By publishing prices, benefits may be achieved that far and away off-set the negatives depending on your business and marketing strategies, current level of bookings, confidence in those prices, and how one got to those prices in order to set them.

I don't have mine on my site for 2 reasons:
1- my agents want to send clients to my site, but they don't want my prices on them

2- I want people to call or e-mail me so I can "work" with them if I want to...

I don't put them on my site either...easier to talk to them on the phone and explain what we offer and why it is worth it...overall, it seems to work well.

Yay Tom I agree with you. I have minimum in my mind. Some Weddings are shorter than most on a rare occasion and I have less of the planning beings its just a get together versus the typical ceremonial typ a typical reception is . Being only a dinner/dance.

psychologically it keeps your mood up to have them call and of course for me Im more on my game with my sales when I get more calls.

Never posted prices on the site, just the package options and details, they can call, e-mail, or fax, to get a quote. The competition in Philly is wayy to tight to be posting prices.

I use DJ Intelligence to provide quotes to prospects that visit my site. It does two things. In order for them to get a quote, they must complete info that is then sent to me and we followup with an e-mail to them. Secondly, when someone has requested the quote on line and then calls me I know that our fee is definitely in their ballpark

When you pass a certain price point with your fee, you do not want to waste time talking to a caller that can't afford to book you. Having your fees on your website helps to eliminate these calls.

To quote Tom, "DING, DING, DING, we have a winner"

There is absolutly no reason I can think of for not posting prices especially because I use DJ Intelligence too.

They don't get a price quote until they complete a form its not like I have a page on my site called "Prices & Packages" where you just link to it read and move on to the next site, no you actually have to be proactive to get a quote and even then it states that neither the DJ nor you the client is obligated to the quote.

Even with a generated quote there is still room to negociate or even upsell, I see it as a win win. They get a estimated quote I get contact information and the door is open for an easier sell... I don't have to wait for a phone call and then the following long winded sales pitch, it's all on my site.

Question. Who had them (prices) posted, removed them, and why? Who didn't have them (prices) posted, added them, and why? While some never have or always have, it would be wonderful to read those with actual experiences having done both.

I've never not had prices posted in one way or the other.... I did however go from posted on a page as a Blam there ya are to quoteing using DJ Intelligence.... the big reason I switched has already been stated... i get more customer info sometimes even including correct contact information... a few times I've got bogus info... and or maybe incorrectly entered info that makes it impossible to contact that potential contact... but 9 times out of 10 the info is valid and my foot is at least in the door since they already have a heads up to my price.... I don't have to build or sell myself before I give a price all I have to do is justify it when I contact them... I've gotten everything from ... "your hired!" to "OMG your expensive, click" o well... win some lose some.

Rob : Tch tch tch.
While some never have or always have, it would be wonderful to read those with actual experiences having done both.
Your response
I've never not had prices posted in one way or the other....
