Jon and I recently sent our relatively new Chauvet 4-Bar Tri back to Chauvet to be fixed for a broken connector inside the casing for one of the 4 lights. We spent about $100 in packing materials and shipping with the expectation that it would be shipped back to us in the same barely used quality. Instead, they shipped it to us in a box without any protective padding.

The case is beat up with an impact spot, and the outside of the case is peeling away from the foam on the interior.

The foot controller is noticeably louder due to the pedals rubbing on their metal casing - a consequence of impact from rough shipping.

Furthermore, all of the knobs on all of the lights were loosened (we had tightened them prior to shipping) and one of the lights has scratches/scuffs on the back of it.

Most noticeably, 3 of the lights have bent hanging brackets - one is even warped out in a bowlegged fashion! In fact, one of the corners on the inside of the case is visibly dented from where the manufacturer mashed the bowlegged bracket into the case!

We are very upset at the disrespect Chauvet has shown us by returning a fixture to us in a condition lesser than that in which we sent to them. We had previously paid for and relied upon quality products from Chauvet. Now, we are getting ready to have a rather nasty discussion with them. At this point, we're not sure we could ever recommend purchasing lighting products from Chauvet. Buyer beware!

Okay, we just tried to close up the case and one of the zippers is broken! We also noticed that the lighting fixture was put in upside down, so the backside with the inputs, buttons, and knobs mashed into the foam in the case. Unfortunately, we cannot flip the fixture over because the bowleggedly warped bracket would mash the other side of the case. I'm beyond P/O'ed now!

Most lighting type stuff generally only has a 30 or 90 day warranty. It kinda stinks but when they break they are kinda dust.

The kicker is Chauvet has a 2 year warranty on its dmx products. Not so sure I'd ever want to send it to them again should anything else break on it.

After the problem after problem we had with the Rain56's Chauvet can suck it. My money goes elsewhere

ducky, I feel your pain. I sent back a fixture to repair a faulty connector. While they didn't ding my fixture up, they didn't fix it either. Personally, I'll keep using their products but now way would I have spent $100 on shipping for a faulty connector. I can see why you're so hot under the collar. Is the 4-bar usable now?

I'm friends with their new product manager... do you mind if I forward this to him? I am sure he'll have it taken care of!! (I'm P/Od at Chauvet, too... maybe more than anyone... but he's making good!)

Go for it, I'm Ducky's husband, so I'll speak for us on this one.

And thanks for the help.

Even the best companies have moments of lapse. I'm sorry to hear about your experience.

They do, and Chauvet isn't even one of those companies. Everything except my bubble machines that I have from Chauvet has had some issue or another. Almost everything they make feels like it was made as cheaply as possible. I find myself using lots of glue and tape with the Chauvet crap.

Right now I'm aggrivated with three of my Rains as I can't seem to get them to respond to DMX.... static settings work fine though...

I just re-loaded Freestyler in the hopes that there was a software issue... but I have my doubts since my Pallets responded perfectly well to DMX...

Ben or Kat @ NLFX would be happy to help you dispose of your money, and offer a better product

Friend of mine uses Elation products with no problems. I think Ben can get them.

Just an update for those who are wondering. I talked with the tech folks at Chauvet and I'll be sending them photos of the damage and we'll then decide on the next course of action.

Crap... I have a Slimpar 64 in for repair so I don't like this thread! The bottom horizontal line of LED's in the display wasn't working so a U would look like I I, an L would look like I, an 8 would look like an R, type of thing... It worked fine otherwise. My other 16 units are fine.
