I hope that Rick is resting in peace, but to have a question on what programs are similar to Rockit. I am a basic DJ who does not do scratching, etc.

Want to know if there is anything that is similar to that wonderful program? Not that I need anything new, just looking to the future.

Would like most of the same features as Rockit.... But not all the extra bells and whistles. I have been spoiled with the ease of his program and love it so much.

If you are looking for something close to Rockit VDJ would probably be your best choice I find them very similar. Personally I use MixMeister Pro. It's a little harder to setup but easier to use once it is and I find it mixes better than Rockit or VDJ. I've been a user since Version 2.0 and bought up to Version 7. I went back to Version 6 for simplicity

While I have Serato, I find myself using VDJ LE, which came free with the Numark DJ2GO, to do everything I need, though I may upgrade to the full version so I can use a single app for music, video and karaoke.

I'd stick with RockIt...at least for now. It's a great program...probably the best basic one and the best for wedding DJs who don't scratch...IMHO.

The ease of use and the library utilities (so easy to add music!) made it a winner for me.

I like Rockit, and tried to stick with it .. however, it's inability to read iTunes libraries and playlists and minimal support for controllers made it a non-starter for me.

VDJ is my vote.

VDJ +1, you can make it as simple or complicated as you want.

Does anyone know if Rick gave control to the website, source code, or ordering process to anyone else. Is the order process automated or does someone have to process the orders?

I know that Rick's brother was here and was debating what to do with the company.

I say go to the website and try buying it. I'm pretty sure with Rick's great IT knowledge that it's automated.

If you do, I'd be happy to guide you through any questions you may have.

His brother has control of the website aside from that I don't know

Any news on if someone will be taking Rockit over?

I'm not sure why anybody would want to. By Rick's own admission, he pretty much died penniless..... and I liked Rockit..... Buy why, other than if is is just a labor of love, would anybody want to sail on that ship?

I always wondered why he didn't have money. He developed a great program with nobody else to share the profits with, and still didn't have any.

( BTW, yes, I liked Rockit so much, that on version 2, Rick listed me in the credits / thank you area of the software. ) Even later, when he and I started to disagree / argue about everything, I still told people that he made a great piece of software.

Because unless you are developing a major software there's not a ton of money in it. I could be corrected on this but I believe Rockit sold for $139 so let's say he sold 1000 copies a year that's $139,000. Take off taxes and expenses he'd be lucky to clear $50,000 and that's if he sold 1000 copies a year and I'm doubtful about that.

He did have his hands in a few other projects too

What exactly do you like about ROCKIT PRO DJ that you'd be looking for in another software suite? On the whole most of the major software out there these days is pretty evenly matched when it comes to stability, basic functionality, and so on but they do separate from each other on more subjective points... Just some examples:

- Serato DJ/SL has the best library management
- Traktor Pro has the best effects
- VirtualDJ pro has free video support

Then you have the free options like Mixxx which are quickly gaining traction and the more automated software like MixVibes which will always be popular with MoibilDJs.

So... What are you looking for feature and functionality wise?

Nick James.... I think it is just what I am very comfortable with. It is what I started with. I am a very straight forward basic style DJ. I love the ease of searching music. I also love the Auto Cue. I have played with some of the Demos and have not found anything that I like as much as rick program.

I think Mixmeister might be the best for you. After you do the setup it's all drag and drop
