Stick Lights

So, I am looking into getting some stick lights but it seems the only company that sells them is Chauvet and I don't feel like paying $700 for four lights.

Does anyone know if anybody else carries similar lights?
$700 for 4 is dirt cheap compared to the Asteras they’re trying to mimic which a set of 8 goes for $5000

You can try looking at Both Lighting's tube, but I'm almost certain they're more expensive. Also, they're very big and thick... not necessarily the modern/chic look that weddings are seeking. You can also look at the JMaz Galaxy lights... but they too are pretty bulky... however at $400 for 6... if you want the "look" then that's kind of your only low cost option. Keep in mind, the jmaz work with a remote that has to be pointed at the light to change patterns, meaning the chances that all of them are in sync with each other are very minimal and most videos I've seen, the lights aren't coordinated at all with each other, creating a very unimpressive light show. In addition, the Jmaz lights are only rgb led diodes meaning they cant create nice elegant/warm whites or accurate colors if you're going for a specific look. I also don't think you can raise them up as they can only be used with a floor stand.

Bottom Line is unless you believe the lights are AMAZING, and you just have to have them, and are TRULY willing to take the risk on offering them to your clients in an attempt to earn your money back, and create a ROI with them then spend the money on the lights.

If you are just seeing other DJs use them, and the lights are essentially eye candy to you, then do yourself a favor, and don't bother with the investment because I can 100% guarantee you that you WILL NOT make the money back that you spend on this type of lighting. In this scenario, the lights are essentially a new toy for you, and a year or two, or maybe 3 years down the road if the lights last that long without breaking they will eventually become unused paper weights collecting dust and you will want to get rid of the lights, and realize you never made money from having the lights.

In most markets with 97% of clients...you won't find clients willing to pay more to add this type of lighting in. You will find yourself using them at your events just to get them used, and pretending that the lights are upping your image/presentation at your events. If you are completely fine with dropping the money on these lights in this scenario, then buy them. If your goal is to have a ROI on the lights, and will not be happy if you don't earn your money back, then save your money unless you love taking a lot of RISK.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your decision.

I was checking out some of the lighting sticks in December. Although I thought the look was nice, I thought they were kind of expensive for what they were. My other real issue was they didn’t throw out enough light on the area. Yes they would look nice dressing up the stage or your DJ setup but that’s about it. Whether that gives you a leg up or something your clients will pay extra fo IDK. Personally when my karaoke clients want lighting, they want stuff which will lights up the stage like a concert. They want that concert look. Of course it’s also about budget and what they’ll fork over money for. Since quite a few places I play may have sound, lighting & video systems already installed I don’t really use those items as a selling point. The narrative has to go in a different direction.

But there is a karaoke guy in San Francisco who does bars, who has a nice lightshow with fog geysers and a couple of moving heads. And tops it off by playing the sax. I discovered him during the Covid shut down when he was doing virtual karaoke. Really nice guy with a great karaoke show.
