The other thing I forgot to mention is how many DJs would feel comfortable quoting a bride $2,500 to do their wedding and how many would truly be worth that price?

I would have no problem quoting that much or more, depending on an awful lot of variables, I always strive to go above and beyond the clients expectations regardless of what they paid

Again I never said anything about wanting to impress anyone. I said why would I take out a loan to impress people. To me if you're taking out a loan to have a wedding then you're looking to impress someone. I don't know who but someone. It might be the brides idea or she may not feel good about getting married and it's not her dream wedding.

Again, for the visually impaired, you DID say that. I also highlighted where you JUST said it. A loan, is a loan, is a loan. You're borrowing money .. it doesn't matter what it's for. You took a loan to get a van, who are you looking to impress?

I understand all of that. What is it with this hood thing? What does that have to do with it? I just stated what I wouldn't do. It's up to the people getting married as to what their budget is and what they will spend on their wedding. Not to mention how they get it paid for. I just couldn't see myself spending $100,000 for a wedding unless I was well off where it would be a drop in the bucket for me. I wouldn't take out a loan to get it paid for. If I had to take out a loan who am I looking to impress? The bride or the people attending the wedding? It's a one day deal. You got the rest of your life to survive. God bless those who have that much to spend. Like I said if I could comfortably afford it I would do it. I wouldn't take out a loan for a wedding and have the loan stress me out after the day is done. For me no need to add more stress to my life.

The question I'm curious to know, is he able to make the van payments with the DJ gig money, after it's been split up between his parners?

he worked for a school district for many years, I would assume between his pension and social security and still living with his mom he can make the payments

That's no the question. Does he make enough profit on his DJ jobs to make the payments from there?

I just told you I wasn't trying to impress anybody! It's what I felt I needed to do to have a reliable vehicle to drive where I wasn't worrying getting stuck on the road. Especially if I were on my way to a gig. I got stuck on the highway once with that van and basically that influenced my decision.

It gets paid because I did the smart thing and that is the payment automatically comes out of my checking account along with the insurance payment. That way the van gets paid for without any issues. I know me and if I didn't do it that way I would take my time getting the payment to them. The way I set it up it's forgotten all ready.

And your crazy if you believe that. Just because you setup an automatic payment does not mean it will always work .. and when it doesn't, you will be held liable and accountable - not the bank.

Then you can't assume anyone else is trying to impress anyone.

I use automatic payments for everything possible. I can't tell you of any that have failed in the past 15 years.

It's a matter of keeping up with what payment comes out when. I have many more that automatically get paid. Life insurance (I mean death insurance). Consolidation, Life Alert and so on. It's just a matter of writing things down so you keep up when what payment is due. My best friend has his mortgage payment automatically come out of his account.

It's all about being disciplined. Just because the money is in the bank doesn't mean you have to mess with it. I don't have auto pay for everything. Somethings I call the companies up and pay them that way. That way when need be I can adjust a payment. Do a partial payment and setup to pay the rest later.

I do as well and I have known of quite a few that have not come through on time .. banks fault, but the liability falls on you.
I haven't had the bank do it's job. It's times where I've been unmanageable.
