Hey all,
I am a big Van Halen fan, and probably even a bigger Sammy Hagar fan...just wanted to drop this news on the forum. Check the first few links on this site for more info...

thanks,

I didn't read the link, but i heard that Michael Anthony is on tour with Sammy.

Guess who is gonna play bass for the reunion tour?

Wolfgang!

From everything I've read, Eddie is a real prick to work with. I'm guessing that they do a few shows and part ways.

Eddie's son, Wolfgang.

Yes, Eddie's son Wolfgang is the new bass player.

I can tell you all this, I saw the tour when DLR and Sammy went on the road together a couple years back. I will just say I am glad Sammy opened the show I happned to be at, because after two DLR songs, I had to get the hell out of the place. He is completely out of shape, his voice is totally gone, and he looks completely ridiculous prancing around the stage now. You have been warned.

I have seen the following:

1. VH with Sammy, Balance tour 1994, very good, solid arena type show. First time to see VH or Sammy for that matter.
2. Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas, multiple times since he was booted out by Eddie. Very good shows, high energy, fun crowds. More fun than VH by far.
3. Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, "the other half"...very good renditions of VH stuff, pretty much as much VH as you can get, even on early DLR songs. Covers of other songs were pretty solid too...fun, and high energy.
4. David Lee Roth, playing with his band this last year at a casino....pretty decent sounding VH tribute band, basically. DLR was goofy as hell, and acted like a 17 year old on crack. He cant sing like he should, and barely pulled off the concert. If the songs werent so damn good, I think people would have booed him off the stage and left.

I will still check out VH if they do this "reunion" tour. I think Sammy is right, putting a lot of pressure on Wolfgang for this. Eddie in recent years looks drunk as hell, and is still smoking even after his tongue cancer. I saw a video of him talking at the NAMM when Fender introduced his Frankenstrat copy guitar, and he seemed pretty much drunk or messed up. I honestly think he has drunk himself retarded. Sadly, he looks very old, and bewildered. He lost Valerie, his band, his health, and even possibly some of his guitar skills. I am saddened by this, but so goes the life of a rock star. He looked so much better at the VH Balance tour, even though it was about 13 years ago. Sad deal, as he rules on the guitar. From what little I know, and have seen, if you cant get along with Sammy, you are the problem. Eddie thinks he is god, and when he kicked Sam out, and now Mike, everyone has evidence of his "problems with other people".

Anyways, check out Sammy Hagar anytime you can, as he is the best live show I have seen yet, even better than Garth Brooks, Aerosmith, ZZtop, Brooks and Dunn, Michael McDonald, and many others.....he will be 60 years old next year, and that amazes me how he can still jump on stage and kick ass!

Sammy's career is doing a helluva lot better than Van Halen's nowadays...any news on that VH box set? I remember in the mid-90's that VH was going to go through the music vaults and put a box set out of rarities, outtakes, unreleased demos, b-sides, live stuff, etc...
Whatever happened to that?
