I was looking at u-tube and saw some little guy giving some advice. One thing that he said that I didn't agree with was when doing wedding ceremony he places his 2 speakers at the back of the church to avoid feedback?????? Hmmmmm. I always sit in the back so that I can direct traffic (bridesmaids go now,,,,start new song,,,,let next one go,,,,, start song,,,,let ring bearer go,,,,and so forth) . So I sit in back and run speakers from alter back. Anybody run speakers from back to alter, or alter to back?

Now I have had to buy some 100 footers to get my powered tops to the front,,,,kinda inconvenient. I have not had any feedback, problems. I try to put the speakers even with bride and groom position.

I place mine side back. It absolutely helps feedback, looks way better in pics, and no reason to blast the people up front who can already hear it.

Don't overthink what is natural and whatnot. Do what makes the most sense.

I use wireless remoted Bose L1 or F1 speakers behind and to the left and/or right of the participants, or, in the back for fill purposes, or, one front and one back for full coverage. Any mics are also wireless. This allows me to set my control center anywhere depending on my needs or responsibility.

For example, last night the ceremony took place in the event hall which was pipe & draped across 1/3 the facility. My set up was where it would be all night. The L1 speakers were placed behind the drapes which made everything audio be like magic, the dispersion made it mystical too.

I typically run two L1 Compacts for my ceremonies and set them to the left and right of guests, about half-way back.

In a case where I don't have any room to the left or right, I have placed them up front, but I try to flare them way out to the sides if possible to keep them away from any photos.

My main concern is making sure it sounds great, and aesthetically pleasing. The Compacts reject feedback so well, it's never a concern about whether the mics will cause issues.

I place one speaker at the back or off to one side. Feedback is always a concern with an omni directional mic. But keeping the speaker out of photos has been my reason placing the speaker at the back.

Let me suggest buying the Alto Stealth system. That way you can use that system with your speakers so you don't have to run wires at all. Eliminating the need to run 100' of wires.

Mix have you used that Alto stealth?, can you offer your real world expertise on it ?
No I haven't myself. I have a couple of friends who own that system and they both use that system with no issues at all. I know this because I've been at events where they have used that system and all is well. No popping noises or anything else.

I hate the sound coming from the back, but it just depends on the situation. I do try and hide the speakers when I can,,,

I would bet that DJ are the only people who don't like speakers in the back.
Most guests probably don't even notice them. (unless they are right up front and/or feeding back)
