I'm a fan of Yorkville speakers. We have a pair of 801P subs and I love them. Just looking for thoughts on the NX 25 speakers for my setup.

I have not listened to them, but judging from the looks, and the fact that it has a Class B amp and only 300 watt power handling, they are certainly an older model. The weight is not bad. 39 lbs per speaker is much lighter than your Yamahas were.

I would recommend the newer Harbinger 3412 series to be honest. They are going to be clear, louder, and I believe a bit less on the weight. Also, if purchasing new, they will be a lower cost. Looks like $569 on that NX 12P speaker from B and H. vs $349 or less on the Harbinger 3412 speaker.

You need to ask yourself if you are fine with 40 lb or so speakers, and lifting them onto the stands in your old age. If the answer is not a solid YES, then I would recommend going with 10s OR Line Array set up and delete the speaker stands rom your set up.

How is your personal own gofund me working out Adrian? Kinda looks like a scam? Have somebody else run the fund me page for you.

Need to look at a very small lightweight line array style system for most of your gigs aka the senior center you would only need one

A older friend of mine who does a ton of senior parties during the week shows up with two qsc k8’s and says they’re more than enough.
You said something very interesting. When I played for the seniors in Montclair I only used 1 speaker and only had the volume but so loud. It worked for them. I had to also keep the mic volume down or they would complain.

My buddy plays for seniors in a seniors building and he uses 2 JBL PRX 15'S on the floor. In that case he can play the music at a good volume. He's not that restricted on the volume.

Mix you’re stuck in the past, you need to open you mind to new ideas and technologies, it’s your chance to make things easier for yourself, ditch the rest of the big gear get rid of the van, get a smaller more fuel efficient vehicle, cheaper to insure, easier to park, and some modern small lightweight gear , this will allow you to keep doing what you love for a significantly longer time

I can't get rid of the van. It's not paid for.

Told before I did backyard parties (not for seniors) with one speaker on a stand and brought my kids in the cars and a Photobook. I leave the second speaker in trunk. I actually have a smaller Denon 3000 controller I use for stuff like at and which I keep in the house. For events which they are on a budget and/or doesn’t require high SPL it works out perfectly. They were also happy I took up a lot less room with my setup. You just didn’t listen.

Never has and never will! Kind of a waste of time trying to help.

I've owned and used the NX25 speakers. They are well designed and very durable nice sounding speakers. I didn't have them long I bought them really cheap from a guy going out of business and wound up re-selling them. I have NX55s here same components same box larger amp I've used them since 2008. One pair I sold to the bar I work on Fridays the other my Daughter uses when she plays they have been flawless. For the gigs you do they are more than you need

That being said they are 45Lbs and they need to be lifted above your head. I can do it but I have bad shoulders I made the decision not to make the shoulders worse and bought a line array system. The 25s are slightly lighter 39-40 I believe but still need to be lifted up

I would suggest HK Polar 12. You can get them less than a Grand in the US and you only need one run both sides in to it you have full sound. Sell the 801s to pay for them they are just taking up space in your basement. If they are in good shape you might get $1200-$1400 for them you could almost afford 2 Polars with that

You do know that a vehicle you are still paying on can be sold, don’t you? Unless you are VERY upside down in that current vehicle.

Do you currently owe more on the vehicle then the book value?

Just the amount of money you would save in gas would be a great reason for a smaller vehicle.

1-What do you need a full size van for?

The couple of gigs you do per year that you need that kind of cargo area you could rent a van and pass on that cost to the client.

There's a guy who has a pair of the NX25 used for $450. As I see it I can pull the trigger on the pair. It won't have me break the bank. You said they sound nice. I certainly would pick them over Harbinger.

Sound is subjective. You need to setup a time to go and listen to the speakers. Make sure that they work properly, and sound good to you.

In my opinion they do but as Phasell said you should have a listen first. You do mainly small rooms they should work well to get you back in the game. I still say sell the LS801s regardless if you buy these or something else. A man of your age and health doesn't need a pair of 160 Lb speakers hanging around

Good sound is subjective. Bad not so much
