Unless you're a purist, chances are you have made to switch to a laptop and is using some type of Dj software. If so, what do you use and why? Would you ever consider switching to another platform??

I use Serato. I was vinyl from 86-01, cd's from 02-10 and then moved to Serato. If there was no Serato I would still be spinning cd's. I also ran out of space for my cd books, lol.

Virtual dj and Traktor are good also but just too busy for me.

RockIt user here...simple, effective, stable and the guy who wrote it resides here.

Thanks Rick for a great product for us wedding jocks!

Traktor Pro 2 here. I have tried some of the others but I love all the bells and whistles that Traktor offers. This is a Prime example of to each his own. As long as music is played then everything else is personal preference.

PCDJ Red Mobile .. basic

Virtual DJ

Mixmiester, Yes I am going to change to another DJ Software, I only use the lap top to reduce the amount of seldom played music I carry. 90 percent of the event I do are still done with CDs.

Started with CDs in 96, then moved to SSL 4 years ago. Now learning vinyl with Serato of course. Wouldn't switch to anything else...

I used Serato with Rane Mixer. Initially, it was recommended by other friend DJs. I am considering moving to Native Instruments just for the Traktor S4 midi controller. It's lighter and more compact than my current setup.
Yeah... for my big setup I use the Rane TTM-57 with CDJ-800s SSL & Video, my smaller more used setup is DDJ-S1 w/Serato Itch. Both can be back ups. When I do shows with my S1 I bring my Pio DJM-400 mixer and another laptop. When I take my bigger setup out I bring my S1 too.
