Who uses one of these? What is your Experience? In the 70s thru mid 90s I used to use the DBX 100 (Boom Box) which is now the Sub Harmonic Synthesizer 120A. It made a 15" woofer sound like an 18" on steroids. I am thinking of re introducing one of these to my rig.
I have two spaces left in my processing rack and one of these plus a Lexicon Effects Processor will finish the deal.

They worked with vinyl because with some bad pressings low bass frequencies were lost and these processors syntersized the low frequencies. now with digital there is not much need for them.

The Limewire DJs may need them!:yoBiggrin::yoBiggrin:

Since you may be "re introducing one of these to my rig", then does that mean you have been dipping into the "Limewire" pool of music?????:triwink::tritongue:

I use the BBE and very satisfied with what it does to my system...
I tried the Aphex aural exciter and wasn't satisfied, but one of my colleague love the Aphex...
These boosters expands the audio horizon on your system...
I've never gone past the "1.30 mark on it. My setting is usually @ the 12o'clock mark and 1 o'clock. I don't think you need it to be higher than 2 o'clock.

I don't think U have to be a "Limewire dj" to use these processors...as most of my mp3's were converted from cds and quality online downloads like Whitelabel...

just my $0.02

Only processing in my rack is a dual 15 band eq and a BBE 362. I swore by the 362 in my old setup, and have it in my new rack, though it remains to be seen how much I will use it with my new (to me) QSC setup. I suspect I won't *need* it as much as I did before, but I still like the overall effect.

It surprises me to hear you of all people talking about using these devices to make 15's sound like 18's, etc.... I had you pegged for the type of guy who would argue for buying larger, or at least better quality gear rather than blowing up sub-par speakers trying to get club-grade sound. :triwink:

I did not mean that only Limewire DJs use them. What I meant was that Limewire DJs MAY need them to enhance their low quality downloads.

I never blew up any of my speakers by using the first Sub Harmonic Synthesizer made by DBX Called a Boom Box

I used it in conjunction with this Sansui Reverb,

I still have both units hooked up at home and they both still work.

They did expand the sound and made it sound larger and more powerful. One had to be very conservative with its use and adjust itt for different songs.

I have a DBX 120x I think out in the garage. You looking for one? haven't used it in years since I got better speakers.

No I am not looking for one. I also got one of the first generation Compressor/Limiter the DBX 128

The BBE and other sonic maximizers make bad speakers sound OK. They make good speakers sound worse.

You would get better results by investing in a good digital PA manager (e.g. DBX, Behringer DCX2496) and learning how to use EQ, parametric EQ, crossovers, delays, limiters, and so on.
