I know there are others here, like me, who will often use a non-traditional DJ application, if they feel it is the best tool for the job.

The death of Winamp left a vacuum that, as good as some of the other music players are, IMHO still has not been filled.

I have finally got the Sqrsoft Advanced Crossfading Output Winamp plugin working with MusicBee. If you are not familiar with this plugin, it probably has the most crossfading options of any software. Give the combination a try - let me know if you need help configuring it.

I have WinAmp, alive and well, as an option on all 6 of my machines. It did piss me off when the app went away.

Should anyone need them, I have the installation programs for:

Version 2.18 - Full
Version 5.01 - Lite
Version 5.66 - Full (all languages)
Version 5.66 - Full (English only)

It's been a while since I've used any other music player besides DJ apps and iTunes. I know some HATE iTunes, but I have found it's range of capabilities more than sufficient for simple playback. That and having it on an iPad as a hot backup helps.

I don't beatmix. Crossfades and cold endings can be adjusted in the setup. It's smooth as silk with a 5-second crossfade and a 1 second stop/start fade.
so you create a playlist and just let the software do the mixing, don't you ever get the itch to have a little more control over the music, I basically do what you do, but if the dance gets really rocking I like to pick and mix on the fly

You can just let it run. In cases where I want to switch, mid-song, I just drag/drop the cut to the next slot and double-click it (to start play). Winamp crossfades to the next song. If I want to manually mix songs, I have a 2nd machine setup on a different channel. In my market, I've heard any number of times where brides specifically state they want full-songs played. They get annoyed at DJs who keep switching songs, mid-stream. If I were in a club setting, I'd use VDJ or some other dj-specific player.

How did you get Sqrsoft AC to work properly in MusicBee?

I tried MusicBee Version 2.5.5 & 3 using Sqrsoft Advanced Crossfading versions 1.7.5 , 1.7.8, & 1.7.9
The Mixing Buffer Length under Buffering tab causes MusicBee to jump ahead each track instead of mixing in.
MediaMonkey works fine but really want MusicBee to work any idea Handinon

Unfortunately, I can be of little help. I switched over to Serato DJ for serious DJ'ing, and a dual portable install of Foobar2000 for DJ'ing Salsa and ballroom (what I had been doing with MusicBee). Since I have a "lousy memory", I must have software that has a preview or prelisten function. You can configure MusicBee to use an external player to do that, but it is just too dam slow in actual practice, Foobar is much better. So, prior to installing Windows 10 on my laptops, I did some serious house cleaning, and the Bee bit the dust.

I do not remember having the problems you're describing. Since Sqrsoft is an output plugin (and is not configured the same as other plugins in MusicBee - see Recommended WinAmp plugins - MusicBee - Forum), I'm sure I had it configured with one of my ASIO soundcards, set to as low a latency as possible (some cards are much better than others). Sorry.

Thanks for feedback.
I will continue to use Mediamonkey as that works well with Sqrsoft
