I have been diagnosed type 2 diabetic for well over 15 year, at recent gig, I had an awesome night tons of energy bride and groom on the dance floor most of the night, a great, fun crowd, one of the ones that we all hope for, felt great the whole night, packed up sat down in the truck to go home and passed out, woke up in the hospital, my blood sugar was 22, doc said the adrenaline probably kept me from noticing the low sugars, I've never had an issue before, one of the venue staff checked to see if I was ok when he left the venue and called the ambulance,

It's a real good thing the venue staff checked on you!

I am starting to check my blood sugar. This morning I was a 125. ...a bit high. ...Both my parents have diabetes. My sister got gestational diabetes at a young age with her 1st pregnancy...She has been dealing with it ever since. My older brother is going to see a Doctor soon. He checked his blood sugar a couple weeks ago and was a 296! ...He has been dieting, and is registering around a 200 in the morning now...but that is way high.

Are you on medocations, or still trying to control by diet and exercise?

I take insulin, and three pills a day, plus diet and exercise, the diet and exercise I could do much better at

Type 2 D here as well. Take metformin, one tablet, daily...before I go to bed. Blood sugar levels have been between 107 and 114 in the morning before eating. It is sometimes higher if I had pizza or pasta the night before. Of course chocolate and sweets (donuts) are totally off limits, but I do sneak one every so often. The wife will say, "What was your blood sugar this morning?" I tell her it was between 126 and 137. She then asks, "what did you eat yesterday that you shouldn't have?" Busted!!! The meter doesn't lie. LOL

With exercise walking the golf course vs. ride in a cart helps keep it in check. Of course loading and unloading DJ gear helps with the exercise part too.

A couple of years ago at a wedding show I had an episode where I began sweating all over my body; arm pits, behind legs, back, etc. Felt dizzy and thought like I had to vomit. I let my wife handle the booth while I went to the restroom where eventually I did vomit. After that I felt much better. A little weak thereafter. Made it through the rest of the show. In retrospect, I recall that my tux shirt collar was very, VERY, tight. Coupled with stress and heat of setting up I thought I was having a low sugar attack. I had just eaten several (free) pastry that was put out for the show vendors.

The next week I told my doctor about it and he referred me to cardiologist. He ran several tests including the treadmill stress test. After all was said and done, he could not find anything wrong with me. So now I have a baseline for future reference.

Words of wisdom: watch what you eat (low in sugar and starch foods), exercise as much as possible, and lay off the sweets and candy bars. Have more sex, it burns calories...so you can tell your wife. Her response will be more like aren't the normal holidays enough? LOL

Diabetes are no joke, also high blood pressure and cholesterol. One you hit 50 you are on the doctors hit list.
I don't eat anything made from white color and GMO, trying to bike, skate and yoga every second day. Lots of sun. No alcohol except quality beer. So far I'm ok, 5.9-170.

I have Type 2 as well .. the older meds didn't do much for me (I was on Janumet XR) .. the new stuff is fantastic (currently taking Glyxambi)

So glad you were at the venue, and not on the road!
Take care of yourself and good luck.
As a pre-diabetic and someone with high blood pressure...I know what it's like.
It's as if my whole life is now centered completely around keeping things in check.
Sucks to get old.

Glad to hear you're OK Tunes

It does not suck to get old. I love to be around my kids and grand kids. And be healthy. Just take care of your body.
