I Found My Facade

Is the gap really that big a deal? I've never had a client or guest tell me they saw it. I'll mention this thread to him. I know he's headed to the WPPI show in Vegas this week to sell booths, so it may be a minute before I hear bag from him.

When I sent him an email Kevin. I also said that if its a pain in the butt at all not to worry about it. For me the gap is not that big of a deal and yes I think we DJ's here tend to over examine things to much.

Very, very nice Dave. This will complement your already stellar setup..

I have been continually investing for the last 6 years lol. But I thought I needed to take our setup to the next level. Here are just a couple of purchases made this week. I probably have pushed out as of right now about 2k and will be investing more with the facade. My desire is to be the only DJ in my area doing the things and having the look that I will have.

Being different in a good way helps me stand out among my local peers. We just purchased 4 slim pars and an obey 3 for the facade as well as this case and this media server. I want a fast but very nice looking setup. Also given that I use the Bose speaker system. Then my setup should look exactly like the one below. This is one of Steve Lynch's setup

This whole system setup should easily take me through the next five years as has the current setup. The only problem that I have been having is that once I started doing video. I started sucking up hard drive space. Which is fine by me again something that my peers around here don't touch. I do believe the local Multi Ops are quite smart and they have certainly gone where the money is.

Both are big into Uplighting and Photo booths. I know of only 2 companies that have them locally and both of them are the multi ops which I'm speaking about. I know the owners and they are both smart business men and good people. Hey maybe in a year or so I will be buying a photobooth from Steve. Right now a little out of my reach.

The finances and jobs have to be there and winning the wife over for the purchase is a huge thing. This year at our weddings alone we saw 4 of them. I want my wife to understand that if 4 are at our weddings how many of them are at the guys that own them. They rent around here for 800 dollars for 4 hours and with 1 assistant.

Yes I could go DIY but thats not how I roll. I want what ever I do to look fantastic and blow the brides away. I'm just not a builder but I have a great since of what I think looks nice and what I think brides like. Basically because I have great relationships with our brides. I'm the guy that actually cares about there little details and the brides love me for it. I also know this facade wont go to all our events.

The ones outside maybe with our pipe and drape facade we got from DJ skirts last year but have not used yet. That way the idea of not having the setup time will still be there and a good look also when doing video on the LCD we may be better off with the black pipe and drape for those outside events. How ever it is this year it will be about speed and looks. It all depends on location. I know I have been on grass before and I know this is not going on grass.

To me Kevin, if that facade is $250.00 +; it is.....I built my own; no gap, so it can be done....YMMV :tricool:

Again Mr LeBlanc I will say with your intelligent lighting efx and your perfect setup if your buried five rows back table wise from the dancefloor how effective is that? Your advice is a bit moot in LIGHT of that factor. I have moved into a nearby neighborhood. Look out.

Nice. Can see why you're excited!

I don't recognize the silver box.

The silver box will go into the DJ case. It is a 4 TB raid system. Since starting video a few years ago my HD space is getting eaten up. But I basically will only be using half. The other half will be a mirrored setup just in case the other drives fail. I want to roll in. Plug the power in. Plug my speakers in and Plug my laptop in and I'm ready to rock and roll. Look at it this way. Better, Stronger and Faster than before.

I'm shaking.....neighborhood???...You're 1000 miles away....Are you drinking again?

Nextgen,
If you don't want the gap to show, have him use piano hinges to attach the panels. Yes they will add to the cost because they are more than regular hinges but they also add rigidity to the facade.

As of right now some of my stuff has come in and some is still being sent. I have received the raid system and have added all our music. It is set up as a raid 5 setup and I really like it. Very fast, my only concern when I get the case is maybe needing rails for this. Though I'm hoping I don't need them but the company does sell them.

This thing is a beast it weighs about 20 lbs. I pretty sure that my setup will tip the scales at about 125 lbs. If I have to go over steps or stairs then I will use my other setup. I have bought a ramp for our van that is compact yet very good. I purchased the 7 foot version. It can be broken down into 2 pieces or kept as one heavier version.

I like the ramp, that is cool. What vehicle are you using?

Our DJ Van, I liked it because max weight is 40 lbs and it folds to about 3 1/2 feet by about 15 inches. I have a much heavier ramp but it does not fold and is not light. I needed something that I could stack in the back of the van and have in unloaded first and reloaded last. I know the weight of our new system is quite alot. But the trade off will be a quick and easy setup.

I have already shown a bride we booked Sunday. What the new facade should look like. She was very exited and kept saying how elegant it looked and how well it would go with everything. LOL you just have to think like a bride I guess. ) The trade off is when your out and about and you find yourself (a man) looking at wedding and bride magazines lol.

If most of your stuff is on wheels, racks and rock n roller, you should not worry much. If you have to do stairs just charge extra and hire help. Thats what I do. Keep your wheels oiled with light duty oil or WD 40 especially when rolling it over grassy areas as it will collect dirt. I just had to replace a wheel on one of my racks, the ball bearings started coming out
BTW when unloading using a ramp, heavier side (Usually Front) comes down the ramp first. When loading into vehicle, back of rack, the lighter side, goes in first. This is what works for me. Good luck!:triwink:
