I get to do the event anyhow this Saturday because the DJ had to cancel.

I don't wish it on anyone either but I can't bring myself to feel a bit sorry for the guy. If he was running a business he would have backup or at the very least the ability to rent to cover the gig. He had 7 days to get his s**t together yet he left those folks high and dry

Charging $200 or $100 or one million isn't doing a bit of harm to this business it's fools like him that make us look bad. Everyone in the know in that organization will wonder any time they book any DJ now if they will show up
All I can say is they won't wonder here if I will show up or not. Only way I don't show up is for some reason I have a major tragedy like having to go to the hospital and can't leave or my mother dies. Oh my bad. The day my father died I had a gig to do and I did the gig. I say his story sounds fishy. The activities chair said this DJ was supposed to have 2 gigs to do this Saturday. I say this sounds like he found a better paying gig and decided on doing that one.

As for me caught up in what a DJ uses or what they charge. In this case I was just curious as to what equipment failed him that he can't do the gig? Like I said I learned my lesson about having backup equipment. Maybe this DJ will learn the same lesson. Then again one factor I find to be true is that the stuff I use is not cheap crappy equipment. Mine cost me some good dollars. So for backup that would also for me would mean I would want some good stuff to work with as well. My point is you just don't go to a store and they just give stuff away for free. So it depends on what you can afford if you can even afford to buy backup equipment. All I know is they have nothing to fear DJ Macho Man is here.

Mix, I love the way you "selectively" respond to some posts...and totally ignore the ones that could actually help you.

That is an ongoing issue with Mix and will probably continue as such.

I've asked this before but have gotten no response yet - how can you set someone to "ignore" on this site??

Very easy. Click on persons name, and then press the ignore tab.

I get why some people want the ignore button .. but overall, I think that button should go away.

Albert Einstein once said: '"All humanity is divided into three classes: those who are immovable, those who are movable, and those who move!"' - which are you Mix?

Einstein also defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Does that mean Mix has 'insanity' because he does the same thing over and over again .. or are WE 'insane' because we allow it continue / keep feeding into it?

FWIW, the 'doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results' message is also posted in:

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) pamphlet - Step 2: A promise of Hope, page 10.
Narcotics Anonymous (NA) - Page 11 of the final "Review Form" which was distributed in 1981. The quote in that text is "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results".

insanity is a legal term,

mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior. Insanity is distinguished from low intelligence or mental deficiency due to age or injury.

1 out of every 5 DJs are crazy. Look at the DJs around you. If they look OK, you must be the one!

And replying is like mixturbation. You feel somewhat relieved yet unsatisfied and there's a certain level of guilt ;)

Meanwhile he still hasn't answer questions in the other thread. See this is what he does, if you ask him to answer questions he makes another post to distract you. This way everyone forgets about it. Watch.

Mix will you be paying taxes on this job?

Did you present them insurance for the job?

Who is your insurance company?

Is your library legal as in you paid for all he music in it from legitimate resellers?

Why doesn't EVERYONE just simply completely ignore him until these get answered?

Maybe you didn't see these questions, Mix?

There isn't a soul here who cares what you charge for an event, if you won't give us the respect of answering a single thing we ask.

I agree .. and I've said it before. What he does is totally disrespectful to everyone here. If he can't answer questions that are asked of him, then don't answer his.
