Current Bookings for next year

We have 6 on the books with maybe another 4 that might come in very soon. We are ahead of last year at this time and this year we have about 27 on the books already. We only seek to do about 25 per year. We haved raised our price and lowered our hours, we have a very specific venue that has changed their way of allowing weddings at their business. They are in very very high demand because of the type of venue they are.

They now request you use the vendors on their list or you must get your vendors approved. Because there is only about 3 total DJ's they will recommend us being one of them. The demand for our services at this venue has greatly risen. Think California and the gold country and then place this venue at the top of the heep for what it is. Its the one that is number one. Brides are coming from all over the states for this place, we are blessed.

22 Of The Coolest Places To Get Married In America
I take it this place has had enough of some really bad DJs working there doing a poor job and bringing down the value of that venue. I hope they are fair when it's a vendor that a client wants to go with that's not on their list. Do you even know how they go about approving a vendor to work there?

Considering this is in California, does it really matter to you?

I have 4 photo weddings and 4 dj weddings booked for next year and a baseball league committed last night. Best I've had ever for the coming year. Most of the inquiries I'm getting are for may - and that's my prime sports month so I'm trying to hold off booking a $700 gig and losing $3500 or working 16 hour days.

Phone's been dead quiet for a week now - a holiday and all can do that. My tax classes are over, only 1 more this year, which frees up 2 days a week so I will get caught up and the new website up which will help.

Updates everyone? How are things coming along for 2016?

We are at the start of booking season (for me any way)...I had two phone calls today. One was from a lady just getting pricing for a mitzvah. Another was a bride who told me she doesn't think they can afford more than $600 for their DJ. ....The mitzvah lady had a very thick accent, and it was tough understanding her. I dunno if she will call back or now. She seemed to just be researching prices. The bride told me she was originally going to have a band that she knows do her wedding. She knows they charge $400 to do a bar gig, and now all of a sudden they told her they would charge her $3,500 to do her wedding...She was shocked, and felt that they are being ridiculous seeing that she knows them and supports their shows at some local bar all the time.

Any how, I quoted her $1250, so I know she's not calling back.

Also, my 9/24 bride I thought I had booked isn't booking. She emailed me saying she has to cancel. She didn't give me a reason, so that date is back open.

Stronger inquries should come in after the Super Bowl. Superbowl through St. Patties Day seems to be prime booking time every year.

I should probably actually work on getting booking gigs now, well, paying ones , so far I have my annual freebie gig I do in April, and I might be doing a book release party gig in March, thats what I got for 2016.

As of today, I have 22 bookings for next year. 10 of those are Photo+DJ bundles, which average 2.5X the price of my DJ/Lighting gigs. I have one photo gig in January who confirmed verbally but I haven't been able to get the contract signed. Not sure if it's gonna happen or not. I also have a sales meeting in the morning on an August photo+DJ. I've been pleasantly surprised with the leads TheKnot is bring in and even though I killed all paid ads with Weddingwire I'm still seeing about the same dribble of gig leads from them as well. If I can hit 20 Photo+DJ gigs I'll be thrilled.

I have two... Yep... TWO![emoji3] I'm hoping for six this year. We'll see? I have nothing until St. Patrick's Day. I do love the weekday gigs.[emoji4]

I back out at the Casino in Delaware today for a Corporate Event. I did such a great job on NYE the Casino wanted me for their corporate client. They booked a bar DJ on it at a much lower price last year, but the clients didn't like him much. I am leaving at 1:30 for a 6 pm gig just because of traffic (They are also offering me a free buffet so I will try to eat after I load in and before I start! :)

Then tomorrow is a 60th birthday party, then a Bridal Show on Sunday....then nothing on the books for me until March 5th. I had a Jan 30th inquiry come in, but turned out they want to spend $200 or less on a DJ. I won't leave my driveway for that.

Take some Imodium with, you never know when something from those buffets might not agree with

You have a full time job? How the hell do you find time for all this?
I ask because this time of year i do taxes and I'm scheduled 6 days..not all are 8, but still finding time to reply to emails and get a couple of photo jobs done means I"m working 16 hour days...and i don't like it. Feel like i'm shorting both jobs of my full attention and effort.
