Hi all, it was a busy weekend for us. It started Friday night doing Mt. Markham's Dinner dance, its for the 8 grader's who will be leaving the middle school and are going to high school. We have done this dance for them 7 or 8 years now always a good time the only thing is now that it doesn't start getting dark till 8:30 to 9 O'clock its too light in the gym so my lighting effects don't work so well and being kind of light in the gym the kids don't seem to dance as much. They had 62 kids in attendance and its from 6:30 to 9, 6:30 to 7 or so they have a dinner at the school then from 7 till 8:45 is dancing then at 8:45 they hand out gifts and say good bye. Its an easy load in to the school, back up to the front doors go down the hall 25 ft. and there's the gym.
Saturday we were in Oneonta for Morris central school Senior prom, it was a long day. Prom was from 6 -11, Oneonta is over an hour from where I live. It was being held at the Carriage House a place that we have never been at so about a month ago we went and check the place out. Very nice inside, its a rustic post and beam type of building. The day was filled with little set backs. I was in touch with the class advisor Joanne several times about getting times, any special songs, are they doing a court, etc. didn't get a whole lot of info from her. ok I'll take what I get and play it by ear. Friday I call the Carriage House to let them know I'll be there about 3:00 or so they say why so early the prom doesn't start till 6, I tell them its takes about an hour for me to get set up and I'm not doing that when the kids are coming in. The venue manger finally says ok. Load in was easy there are a big set of double doors on the side of the building nice right oh NO they wont let me back up to them cause they don't want me on the pavers , I could back up to where they started which was about 40Ft. from the double doors. then once inside make a left and there's my spot. Get everything inside get set up and guess what I have no power supply for my laptop (now wait for it) I go and grab the second laptop guess what no power supply there either WTF, don't ask I don't know. Now its 4:30 I don't have time to go home and get back. Wal Mart was 10 minutes away so off I go find a power supply, get back and from there and the rest of the night went GREAT
Left home at 2:30 pm. and got back Sunday at 12:30 am.
When Joanne the class advisor got to the venue she came over to us and gave my wife the check ( now wait for it) its made out to Its 5 O'clock Somewhere, I have this saying on the bottom of all my emails. My contract says and we high lite it in yellow make checks out to J&D Entertainment. Some days ya gotta wonder about people
