I know the question wasn't directed at me, but when I do a prom, I do charge more, but the system is basically the same.
ask the school too supply you with a few 8 foot tables,,, I ask for 4, two in front, one on each side... looks better than the chairs, works better than chairs....View attachment 31631
I have yet another school dance tomorrow. I will take a pic of this set up since it may be my favorite set up. The school layout allows me to be up high and there is a half wall and some decorative rocks that separates me from the kids dancing. It's great. Safest set up in regards to being away from the kids you mentioned Chuck.
I don't get why you would want to be separated from the kids I love the interaction with people of all ages by all means come up and ask me to play your song

I am fully aware this could be considered a silly question, 8ms would be milliseconds? With the subs that far out front, are you running a delay on them? Looks you'd need a good 8ms or so delay to blend them into the tops .. otherwise you'll get a very muffled sound as the bass will be heard before the HF/MF will.

Typically, you'd delay .893 milliseconds per foot of difference .. that works for both sub/top delay .. or .. out in the room speaker delay. 89.3 ms per 100 feet.No delay. It didn't sound "terrible" and the students told me to turn down the bass (a first) which is probably an issue of not running a delay. I need to invest is something now to set a delay though after today. The altos have a delay setting in them but I am not sure if it will work with my configuration today. What would you recommend to set delay?

So a lot depends on where the subs end up. If you put them under your table, but they are on the same plane as the tops, they might not need ANY delay. In the pictures above, they look to be about 10 feet in front of the tops, so the recommended 8ms delay on the sub. If they were 10 ft behind the tops, you'd delay the tops 8ms instead.
I had to delay my tops all the time when I ran my Yorkville Unity setup, as the subs were horn loaded, so you had to compensate for the horn length.
Best/easiet way to delay (if the speaker doesn't have that in a menu) is with a dbx DriveRack.
There are several DriveRAcks I noticed. Isn't one better suited for mobile and powered setups?Typically, you'd delay .893 milliseconds per foot of difference .. that works for both sub/top delay .. or .. out in the room speaker delay. 89.3 ms per 100 feet.

Mostly it comes down to what flexibility you need. The PA+ is probably sufficient for most mobile jocks. The PA2 adds advanced wizards for setup and some remote control. The Venue360 is the right box if you have multiple speaker systems (like delay speakers), since each output is independent. Without it, you'd need a DriveRack for each pair of outputs. I have a PA and a DR260 (predecessor to the Venue360).There are several DriveRAcks I noticed. Isn't one better suited for mobile and powered setups?
It looks like the PA+ is also being discontinued.Mostly it comes down to what flexibility you need. The PA+ is probably sufficient for most mobile jocks. There used to be a simpler unit for active speakers (DR PX), but that's no longer made.
