I had the planning wedding with a couple the other day, went over the ceremony and reception with them and everything was going fine. First time I met the couple and I felt that I was getting good rapport with them, and I could see that they weren't gonna be zillas.

Anyway, the bride to be got out her check book even though I don't ask for payment until the day of, and she made the check out for $250 higher than the balance. I've never been given a tip before the wedding, and never one this big either. Makes me think I should raise my prices! It made my day and it will motivate me to give them the best service possible.

Are you getting enough work that you want or are you looking for more? If you are good then keep it at the price you already have for now. You can experiment and raise your price a little to see how it goes and if all goes well stay there. That also is the first time I heard someone giving a tip before services are rendered. That's great. You said the bride paid you before the event and that's what you normally do. What's wrong with that? I know that's how a lot of us do it. It also helps to see who is serious or not. Myself I'm serious with what I do and would never do what some others have done in the past. Take the money and run.

Great to hear you got your largest tip ever. Way to go!
