Anything like the Chauvet 4Bar... but better?

I love the way the 4Bar sets up, but like most everything Chauvet sells, it feels flimsy to me. So I am looking for something similar, but maybe better built... does such a beast exist?

Flimsy? We've been using it for almost 2 full years and haven't found it to be in the least bit flimsy. Heck, we've even started experimenting around with different lighting configurations, including using O-clamps to hang a pair of lights off of the tripod it comes with.

Other than separate higher cost fixtures, not sure what else is in the same ballpark. Mine is pretty solid for the $$.

This is one of the Lights with Tripods that you can invert the bottom part of the tripod to make it higher. Just make sure there is enough of a spread on the legs. I don't think it is flimsy at all. It is well constructed. I usually attach a ADJ Jellydome on the pole under the lights..

I too have a 4bar and its my go-to for smaller gigs. The stand is lightweight and does feel cheap but its held up well for me for a year and a half. I mounted an H20 and Revo4 beneath it once without an issue but wont do it again.

Have you looked at this from ADJ...it looks similar http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MegaParPFSys/

I agree the stand is a throw-away. I use an Ultimate lighting stand .. and I don't use the footswitch, just some basic DMX.

See, that stand looks sturdier. I first saw the 4Bar at the Vegas show a few years back, and I specifically remember thinking, the stand was pretty darn crappy... Couldn't really evaluate the lights because the show floor was too bright. Then this past spring, I did a sweet 16 where the girls father brought a 4Bar and I saw it in action. It was pretty good, but even the guy who brought it said the light stand felt too light.... But he didn't care, he bought it for the party with the intention of returning after the party.

You can't really nitpick about a stand that's included with the fixture - I'd be surprised if anyone bought a 4Bar specifically because the stand was included with it.

With that said, Cheaplights/StageApe has a variation on the 4Bar - the advantage is that it folds in half, which makes it ideal for transport. Check it out.

I mount 4 eternal lighting flat par pro's to a tbar for the same effect. I use dmx400 within freestyler for chases. All of my cables are prewired to the tbar so the set up takes however long it takes to set up a tripod. The flat pars are are also my uplighting fixtures so its cool to get use out of the fixtures when I am not doing uplighting.

I can. But that's because when I was in Vegas, they made a HUGE deal about how everything was all in one nice bag.... Well, not really if I don't trust the light stand and I need a better one.

I don't use the 4bar but I do have a bit of Chauvet stuff. The ADJ stuff seems flimsier than the Chauvet stuff. I have had 0 problems with the Chauvet stuff. A few problems with the ADJ stuff (especially the scanners).
