Best LED effects light???

I think the Galaxian 3D. It can be used great with fog or without. You can also use the green and red separate. You can have the lights still or in motion.

I've never been a fan of "spin and pukes"...but the ADJ tri-phase is VERY cool with a small amount of haze. Without haze it's not worth the trouble.

I like the Revo's myself
bought a Revo 2 and it compliments my color wash nicely...
but it appears the Revo 4 is even more awesome!

as for the "dot" pattern....
it looks great on the ceiling and adds a lot of light to the dance floor...
and if you point it on the people/dance floor, the dot pattern doesn't even matter, it just looks like a whole lotta lights flying around.

p.s.
the Revo is the ONLY effects light I have, and it replaced three old school effect lights.

I understand what guys are saying with not liking the "dots", but I still like my Vue III, either solo, or in pairs, shooting at a ceiling.

I am sure we will see many more cool lights coming out with led technology. At some point they say all the lights, including headlights on your car, will be led. How cool will it be to have affordable led effects that shine as bright at 250w bulbs, in scanners, etc, and are 1/5 the weight and size?!

Are you guys talking about using only one light with the wash lights and nothing else?

Has anyone looked into the Fusion FX Series. Especially the FX 2? Comments?

if you have a good color wash (colorstrip, color pallette, par cans, etc) to cover most of the dance floor
you only need one good effect light to add a little sparkle at the right time.
of course, a good mirror ball effect is always handy for slow songs
but that's to start with.
like most of us, you'll probably get hooked and wanna add more lights after a short time.

Not me. I want to do it with as few lights as possible. ;)

But I do agree with Ausumm, for a 'basic' light show, you need 2 basic elements - color wash/fill, and movement.

And yes, a light ball effect is helpful for slower songs.

I considered going all out on the lights, and opted instead to buy fixtures with very specific results (wave for 'water', a Martin fixture for 'fire', PR-1 for gobo, LED Reflex for 'movement', par cans for 'fill', etc).

I plan to keep mine small and simple, but effective as well...
but that doesn't mean I don't want to BUY more lights.
(we all wanna buy more STUFF!)

Oh I want to BUY lots more lights, but I also work my budget to only purchase what I NEED.

When I work with a client and they want an effect I don't have, I either rent or buy what I need to make it work. In the meantime, there is a LOT you can do with some very basic lighting fixtures.

Using a Starball will give you the light for the slow dances and some fast movement when needed if you're using DMX.

We all size down our lighting when transferring over to LED but usually get hooked on the new products and start buying more. (LOL)

Yup and now I'm looking for a couple of barrol scanners to go with my HP Scan 250's
