Some of the items you used are no longer available... including the case.... are there any concerns about what NOT to buy? I am planning to get the nVidia card.

Cases are all pretty much the same, it's just what style suits you. As long as they've got the mount points for the size mobo you're using and enough room for what ever components you're putting in, you can pick anyone you want.

As an aside and this is by no means a slam on any one with an 8 core machine and 12 Gigs of RAM but what exactly are you doing with all that power? Admittedly I don't do any high end graphics or video work but I find it hard to max out my 3 GB of RAM and pin my dual core processor when running 4 or 5 programs to work on a site. The biggest bottleneck in my system is waiting for the hard drive to serve up files that I want. The few times I do video conversion, it's no big deal just to let it run over night.

To me all that power is like buying a Corvette only to drive it in a 20 MPH school zone 90% of the time.

:sqbiggrin:Once I will feed my geek hunger I will sell it. I know a few video guys that would buy the clone in seconds for 1/2 price of what Apple is asking. I will charge them around 300.00 extra for my gas, time and trouble putting all together.
You may not believe but a couple HD guys is asking for 24 GB of RAM.

Oh I believe it. :) If it were up to me and I had more funds available, I'd max out my RAM and put in a 10,000 RPM HD. The processor I don't worry much about as I don't do much processor intensive stuff.

I can see Mac clones making good money, there is one company who makes 'white box' Macs that are currently in bankruptcy and getting their pants sued off them by Apple. Prystar (Psystar Corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:psystarlogo.png" class="image" title="Psystar Logo"><img alt="Psystar Logo" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/68/Psystarlogo.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/6/68/Psystarlogo.png). It'll be interesting to see how the EULA holds up in court.

Apparently, Psystar starts licensing Apple's Mac OS X to OEMs. It will be fun to watch the the battle.

lol i'll stay with PCs
