Greetings ODJT'ers.
I am in the process of working with a client who has had a series of misfortune dealing with several companies getting their website updated/transfered over to me.
Here's the story
Client has Webmaster who gives run-around on site updates. Never returns calls etc. She set him up with the hosting (dot5hosting.com) and domain name (dot5hosting, which uses tucows api https://manage.opensrs.com to do updates)
Now in order for me to update the site I must have the site on my server and hosting, no exceptions, I have my reasons but basically I almost always have run into snags when updating the site, only to be left out to dry by support and the inability to go into the admin to fix it.
---
I digress...
When dot5hosting setup the domain name, they made a typo, ***@cmaaccess.com was written as ***@cmaacces.com (note the one s).
I call dot5hosting trying to get the changes to occur, they will not reset the password, nor change the administrative contact on the whois record they gave the number to call, which sent me overseas, I told the guy it was misspelled and asked if he would change it. He agreed the phrase was misspelled, but due to security you must fill out a form, get it notorized, witnessed, etc, and send in a form of identification.
They fax it, and Client was told the ID was illegible (too dark). So we are at that process now.
This has to be the hardest web host I've ever had to deal with. If somebody doesn't want your business anymore let them go, its easier to deal with. But hosting companies are too easy worrying about their bottom line. I VOW to have ethics!
Stay away from dot5hosting.com and tucows.com... enough said!
