DO you use a Car Dash Camera when you drive? I highly recommend using one. On my Camry, I have one from Amazon that records great video, and the sound quality is okay. It's a little too sensitive. My Traverse has one of those Camera Rear View Mirrors installed over the mirror. I bought it back in like 2017. I took the memory card out last week to check out the videos on it because I have not done that in many months. Well, it no longer is recording audio, and a lot of the memory blocks were corrupt. So I decided to buy a new camera for my Traverse off of Amazon. Will be here next week, and will trash the mirror cam. I got my use out of it.

You never know when you will need to show the video of an accident, and it's cool for maybe getting craziness that occurs on the road on video for viewing pleasure later.

I seriously considered one when I was driving more than an hour to work in Reading, PA.
But the job went away....so the consideration did, too.

I see a lot of eye-popping dash cam videos these days. Many of these videos fall into the category of "you have to see it to believe it." I will probably get some cams for wifey and me this year.

Someone gave me a dash cam a few years ago but it required a sketchy Chinese app to be installed on your phone so I didn't use it. These days you can get ones with much higher resolution and without sketchy apps.

My car has built-in cameras on either side of the rearview mirror for its safety and adaptive cruise features. They warn you that placing things on the window could interfere with the peripheral view of the built-in cameras. I suspect the warning is mostly due to an over-abundance of caution. I will check out the manufacturer forums to see what people are using.

No. but I think the Tesla’s cameras makes an amazing safety feature. When we had one in Europe, the car would give us an update of every recording it took of people walking by the car overnight.

my car has the rear camera like most do. The front had radar for smart cruise, lane assist, and collision. Side and rear has radar for blind spots and side vision while backing up.

I caught a lady on camera this morning pull out in front of me today. She saw me, and wasn't pulling out fast on her left and turn. I chose not to hit my breaks, and veered to the right a bit. I was only driving 30 mph. This lady couldn't wait 3 more seconds for me to pass before she turns. I came about 18 inches from hitting the rear bumper of her car.

Either she was in la la land, or she didn't give a $hit at all about a potential accident about to happen.

Also caught a big rig driver just GO on a left hand YIELD on green turn on his end. We all had to wait for him to turn left before we could accelerate off of our green light. ...Either driver is an A hole and did not yield on purpose banking nobody will run into his big trailer, or he was in la la land too.

One time, I was driving home in my new (2 weeks) car at dusk, when I saw what I thought was a full black trash bag in my lane. So I tried to slow down and move over but there was a car beside me.

Then, said trash bag lifted it's head and I ran over it tearing out most of my exhaust system. Turns out a neighbor had hit it moments earlier.

That car never sounded right again.:sqfrown:

Yes, started using them about 5/6/7 years ago( really don't recall) just upgraded to a new one back in December, dual channel one, I hardwired this one( even hooked up the rear facing camera too!, the one I upgraded had rear cam but I never got around to it) has GPS/Bluetooth, the only thing I don't like is you have use a app as it has no screen.
