I did a outdoor wedding a couple weeks ago where I provided the DJ services, but the tent provider supplied a ceremony rig. I was so busy I did not get to take down any information on the speaker, and I need to purchase something like it. It looked to be a 15" two way and had four wireless ant. on top.

I am looking for the following and would like recomendation, especially if you have used the unit or know the brand:

Rechargeable battery powered
12" to 15" two way speaker
Pole mountable
Supplied with atleast 2 wirless mics, one being belt pack with lapel mic
Bluetooth
I-device/usb/mp3 compatibale
ability to record the miced ceremony

Or something close to the above, that I can play soft music, mic the preacher and controll the music (on/off) from remote location when the preacher turns on his body pack for ceremony.

Most battery powered portables are 6" and 8" 2-ways .. 12s and 15s eat power. For the larger systems, you may be better getting a good deep cycle battery setup and a good inverter and run what you want.

Here is what B&H carries in that area (battery, built-in wireless): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Features_Includes Microphone&clearPrice=Y&ci=13466&Ns=p_PRICE_2|1&N=3992462029 4273611437 4273611440 4273611403

I use an Anchor Liberty speaker I bought off eBay. New they're like $1500 .. paid about $150.

Ray, just my opinion but forget the battery-powered speakers. They're too weak and too heavy with the battery. Check out what I'm using these days; Behringer pmp550, GTD 2-channel mic and passives. You could even use your ZX1s. For the rare, rare occasion I need battery, I have an $80 marine battery and 400 watt inverter. I think you'll like the results a lot more than one of the battery-powered units.

Thanks drzinc, I just ordered one. The unit that I think the other guy was using was a Pyle and it worked great and you could see it had not been treated well.

I don't need anything better than this, and it makes $150.00 each time I use it, that means it and the tripod I bought for it are paid for in two gigs, the first one is next Saturday. I hope it comes with a remote so I can stop the music playback without going to the speaker before the preacher turns on his body pack.

Let us know if it turns on. :)

You're highly unlikely to find a unit like that that also records (for a variety of reasons). But, you can have a Zoom H1 for about $100. Get the accessory kit (mini tripod, mike stand adaptor, USB/power adaptor, etc.), and you're in digital recording world for somewhere around $125 total.

That's my issue with these all-in-one units. (including mine)
You basically have to set up and/or stand, right where the speaker is in order to control the volume.
Not always possible when it's a ceremony and you don't want to be in the pictures.

The one I have DID come in very handy for a cocktail hour in another room.
I plugged my phone into it and it just played music for an hour...with no power needed.

While I certainly understand the logic of wanting all of these things integrated, as others have found, there are trade offs

I tried one a few years ago....
Issues I had.....
Mic quality
Sound quality
Road worthiness.
Battery charge decreasing significantly.

I've found that by using good, light, quality, components, I could put together a much better small system that had far many more uses that just a ceremony system. Granted, it was much more expensive. But my back up mixer and mics become the ceremony components....which are exactly the same are the main stuff.

I hope your experience is better.

Old school, I would love to hear your review. I have a mobile application where I could use these. For years I used two Pyle Pro PWMA 3500, where I plugged in a Ipod into one, took the output and plugged that into a belt pack that transmitted to the second unit. This worked great for about 10 years. Now the built in receiver is failing. I sent it in for service but came back no better. It's almost impossible to find another Pyle pro unit with a belt pack. Besides that Pyle is a crappy brand that I don't want to be associated with.

This was the reason I just bought the QSC K12, as a light weight but powerful alternative that i could play out the back of my Yukon. I want to get away from this as it ruins the wedding video, having a large truck playing music.

About once a year I would change out the batteries for a new set.

I should have the one I ordered on Friday. It and the stand cost me $290.00. I ordered from Amazon, if it is junk I will send it back after the first gig on Saturday. It made me $150.00 on that gig, so after the next gig it will be paid for. I hope it holds up as well as the one the tent rental company has been using for 3 years now (Pyle PRO), they have leased it over 40 times (I was able to track them down and call them, seems the owner of the company and my nephew were FRAT brothers).

I will let you guys know how it performs.

"since the OP is in the USA, your response in useless."

My response was not, hey buy this!, it was look there is a product that has remote controll so that volume controll does not have to be manual.

Secondly for a price, if someone really wanted this unit, why woun't the seller ship to the US!

Actually, that vendor does state no shipping to the US, but point taken ... that speaker appears to be the same one Z linked to with a slightly different set of cosmetics. I'm guessing you'll find it under many names with slightly different looks (and the same back panel).

The system came in today. Absolute peice of JUNK. One hand held picks up and sounds OK, other hand held goes in and out an pops every time you move it. Headset mic has to touch your lips to be heard. Lapel mic will not pick up at all unless it is almost swallowed.

It did not sound bad when playing Motown off a USB in a room on the floor. Outside on a stand you lost most of the sound at about 40-50 ft, it would not work for ceremony music or micing the preacher.

I have already boxed it up and requested a return label from AMAZON.

I did find out that the unit used at the wedding I did is a peice used by auction companies, and am calling a contact tonight to get more information, the first guy I talked to said he thought it was a Community product, with dual mic set up/dual diversity antennas that also has a CD player.

More to follow.

The system used at the wedding, was a Basinger. Can you say $3000.00, no wonder it sounds so good. Dual Shure wireless mic built in, both can talk at the same time, built in MP3 CD USB. Talk over feature button, inputs for two additional wired mics and RCA, 1/4 and XLR inputs, digital recorder output. These are true pro pa systems.

I guess I can build me a system off of a powered speaker with Shure FP mic and a battery power supply, with scrim at half the price.
