closing threads a bit early

Scott, the thread was closed because of what it was ~ a commercial advertisement. That's a cross of our TOS.

Fred- How was Scott's post and advertisement? He related a situation that occurred.

If the speakers in question had been Dynacord, would that thread have been moved?

Is there really a conspiracy to promote a certain brand of speaker?

as for threads being closed...my humble opinion.....too many...

Scott, it's just coming through as blah, blah, blah now. Why not just try to reduce the quantity of Bose threads? Isn't it better to be here and participate and try to comply with what you know to be the wishes of the management here? If you love talking about Bose so much ALL THE TIME, why not just go over to the Bose forum where everyone is gushing with excitement over the wonder of the Bose experience?

If the Bose thing hadn't been over the top and so repetitive and so self promoting ALL THE TIME then we wouldn't be having this discussion or debates about Bose. For goodness sake, compromise, tone down the Bose stuff and get your cake and eat it too. Talk about Bose in moderation. Chocolate is delicious, but not if we have to eat it at every meal every day.

I wouldn't lay any heavy wagers on that happening, Joe. ;)

I moved the thread in question from a public forum to a private one last night. My reasoning, we're not in business to promote brands for webcrawlers.

For what it's worth, I see the pot calling the kettle black here. There is already a Sybil post in this thread. That's a cross of our TOS.

Scott, the thread was closed because of what it was ~ a commercial advertisement. That's a cross of our TOS.

Threads are rarely closed here. Sometimes it can't be helped... but we try to be proactive. Wiz is correct in that the logo plate battles are growing tiresome. When flame fests erupt the staff has to manage them. I don't log on here because I enjoy doing damage control.

Thread management has nothing to do with the logo on one's equipment. I wish you guys would stop inferring that it does. :)

Fred,
Who is logo plate battling? Is this another case of some posts being removed before I've seen them?

Who is saying that their equipment is better than anyone else's?

You have a right to your opinion Scott. I stand by EXACTLY what I said. Y'all are obsessed and think Bose should be the center of attention-all the time. It's some sort of sickness.

You think the sun rotates around the Bose. Do you see people starting a million threads about JBL or Peavey? Lots of folks use JBL or Peavey, but they don't have to constantly announce it and stroke their egos because of the kind of gear that they use.

Are you feeling ok?

If you really believe I am blatantly disrespecting Dan and Fred, I could not disagree more. I do talk about many things and do discuss many things here. Feel free to research my posts.

I just did for S&G :)

Out of the first page I looked at (of threads you have started), 10% contained the word Bose in the title.

You happen to be a Bose sales rep, if I'm not mistaken. ;)

See where the irony comes in... :sqlaugh: :sqwink:

just a suggestion, but I believe all topics related to DJing, including equipment, should be free to be discussed in a DJ forum.

If someone violates the TOS, is rude, unprofessional or baiting, I can understand deleting a post, but closing a thread so NO ONE can discuss it doesn't make any sense to me.

If we are really closing threads because the point was made before, I would guess most threads should be closed pretty quickly.

It's bizarre that when one brand name is mentioned, it needs to get shoved to a "debate", private or closed.

Again, it shows people that "have no interest" in a brand name cannot help going into a thread about it and not only reading about this subject they have no interest in, but then need to comment on that same subject that they have no interest in. Some even complain that this subject they cannot stand is even being discussed. Really?

I do not read threads about subjects that I have no interest to me. But I firmly believe people that do have interest in that subject should be free to discuss it, even though i don't care about it. Even if it has been discussed before.

From my end I agree, Scott. I haven't even looked at the thread yet, this was my first unread post greeting me this afternoon. Oh joy. :sqwink:

Everyone from time to time beats their chest about their preferred brand from time to time. Be it Bose, Dynacord, QSC, JVC, Sony..who cares.

With Bose it's really no longer about selling under the carpet, we've quelled that. Unfortunately there's a few people who come beat their chest about how great Bose which is fine. However when those few beat their chest over Bose there are another few who cannot help to bash Bose then the thread turns into the same old same old. "Bose Rocks!" "Bose Sucks!" battles.

What do we do start banning people for offering contrary opinions or close the thread and move on until the next one?

Ahh...but does a certain dealer sell the pacemaker????

AAHHH, so all of this is because I make $40 when someone buys a Bose system through me?

That can't really be, because it happens when anyone starts a thread about it.

Fyi, I've been posting here for 3 years about various topics. Over 2000 posts. One person (Adam)has bought a system through me that comes here. That was after a phone conversation. I've made 40 bucks.

So if anyone really believes that the reason I hang out here and have become friends with people here, and offer my opinions is because I really just want to sell systems, I must be the WORST sales person in the world.

I don't promote the fact that I'm a rep here(well i guess i am now:sqwink:) But when someone asked, i told them. I'm not going to lie. The fact was that Cap bought advertising here a while back, and I did not feel right about trying to take any business from him.

If someone really believes I started that thread to try to sell anything...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put me on ignore.

So 90% of the threads I start are about something else? That sounds obsessive!:sqwink:

Scott, did you read what Dan said? I said something similar, but I'm not very diplomatic. Play nice, respect the wishes of the management that you are well aware of. Stay and play in this sandbox. People here aren't saying you lack integrity or that you're trying to scam a few sales by promoting Bose, we just need a break already, jeez. If you make $40 off a Bose sale you're obviously not doing it to get rich. It would be nice to have a Bose expert like yourself here into the future. You have lots of other knowledge and experience to share, why keep Bose as a bone of contention?

I'm not speaking for ODJT, I'm just voicing my own usually unpopular opinion.

Better Stats
in 3 years, started 74 threads. 5 of them are about my system. So 95% of my threads started are about something else.

Wiz - here's a novel idea...there's an ignore button...Use it please...as as so eloquently stated by Scott and re-affirmed by Rick,90% of his posts are non Bose.

as stated by Dan, Scott is playing nice in the sand box

I mean, I could say the same this about your constant bitchiness, but that'd be rude

I totally respect management. I believe they have a thankless job that pays nothing. I am thankful there is a good team of mods here.

I believe I do play nice and keep my posts professional at all times.

If I post anything that is isn't professional or violates any TOS, or even BORDERS on violating anything, all I ask is for someone to let me know what post that was.

I don't believe that people should cry and whine to mods about topics they don't like. They just shouldn't read them.

See stats please.

again, if i see a topic that's coming across as BLAH, BLAH BLAH to me, I think you can guess what I would recommend.

So 90% of the threads I start are about something else? That sounds obsessive!:sqwink:

The point I was making Scott, is that given the TOS, and the already old controversy surrounding this -- it probably does not behoove you to start Bose threads, given you are a sales rep... ;)

Scott -

As Senior management, and for your information, I WAS THE ONE THAT CLOSED THE THREAD. And I had good reason. After discussion was started in the Mods Den about "another BOSE thread" in the public forum, where spiders can search it, Fred moved it to the Private Forum where it could only be seen by a select few.

Here's a clue and I'm not going to sugar coat this -

Everybody on the board here knows you love your BOSE. You spew forth L1 and B1 chunks every chance you get. It gets old and NOBODY CARES.

The problem is that you find underlying ways to promote and sell the product. YOU ARE NOT A SPONSOR! Perhaps if you are such a terrible salesman for the product, maybe you'd like to purchase a sponsorship thru Jon Tuck - our resident sales guru?

That would help pay the bills around here - a place that you love so much.

Then maybe you might start making more than your aforementioned $40 bucks per system sale.

And if you notice - I posted pics of my BOSE equipment in the thread.
But that's only after you started beating a dead horse with the crapola talk about the brand. Doesn't that tell you something? I'm not a BOSE hater. I like my equipment - but I don't promote it all the time. You on the other hand, talk about it ALL THE TIME. The last 90% of your posts contain at least something about the L1 system. Give it a rest son - or go talk about the virtues of what you love so much to those that care to listen.

So with that being said, here it is in plain English so you can understand it -

GO PEDDLE IT ELSEWHERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BECOME A SPONSOR OF THE SITE.

Otherwise, respect the staff's decision to move threads where they need to go and quit yer bellyachin' when we make a conscious and concerted decision to keep things clean & tidy.

Am I playing God here? This time yes. But as senior management in charge of damage control, it's my right and my obligation to our sponsors and the rest of our members to do so.

If you don't like it, then send the Mod's a private message, but if you do, be prepared to take your medicine.

THREAD CLOSED!
