Profession does not necessarily equate to the act of "Being Professional".

A person partaking in a hobby can perform in such hobby as a true professional in how they behave and/or but not limited to attire and manor in which it is conducted.

There are plenty of non-professional's performing in professions.

When I see the word professional it means someone that knows what they're doing and are getting paid for it.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I think Tom is doing the right thing, but he needs to be more positive in his advertizing.

but I've always thought of this...

I always wear a tux, unless requested otherwise.
Then I did a gig where I completely OUTDRESSED the bride and groom, and everyone in the wedding party!
In this case, I removed the jacket, the tie, and the vest...
un-buttoned my shirt and put my sneakers on.

I think knowing (in advance) what your client expects and wants is the key...
