Not sure of his talents, only knew of him through the media tabloid trash.

WNBC reports that Adam Goldstein, professionally known as DJ AM, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Friday.

Police sources tell WNBC that drugs may be involved in Goldstein's death.

Goldstein suffered severe injuries in a plane crash on Sept. 19, 2008.

The pain of recieving such harsh burning overtook him being able to pay for any relief. RIP AM.Adam likely could not account for this much pain.
 
I believe both physiological and psychological factors played a major role here as Jon mentioned pain, guilt, nightmares, etc. change things drastically. RIP.
 
I see both sides...I'm sure the pain and psychological effect were pretty tough to deal with after the plane crash, but I'm sure there were other ways to deal with the problem...not drugs. It sounds like he had the means to seek out other forms of treatment.
But...I've seen other stories like the following link that I'm posting about PHX Police Officer Jason Schechterle. A person that overcame his accident and didn't O.D. I think overdosing is the coward's way out.

It can be suicide by OD or, sometimes the body can just give out on it own. Not until the autopsy results come out will we know the whole story. Nerve damage, burns, and all the stuff he may have had going on physiologically may have required the use of heavy medication, and some of these can have fatal consequences specially with undiagnosed conditions. So I would wait a little bit until we find out more before we say it was suicide.
 
I can understand his battles with his demons. He was still a very good DJ. I liked him for his style of play, he was not boring at all. AM could rock any crowd in any room. Gonna miss him.

He had some sick dj skills! He help Serato Scratch sales alot. He was also in big demand; his rate was no less that $25K for a 3 hr set. He was good-very good! I followed him on Twitter & wanted to go see him live one day & figured that I had plenty of time; very sad! He recently survived a plane crash with Travis Barker(drummer-Blink182). RIP dude!!!
