All true, Steve. But I've had a couple of hefty dry cleaning bills so I'm simply not going to put risk on something so minutely ineffectual on overall performance.
They don’t do it to make money but to be cool & in style.
Why would the manufacturers care if the buyers make money? That's why they do it? Then why do the manufactures cater to that? So, the dj's can do it for fun and make no money?
Sorry, makes no sense.
Great point... as long as they are selling. Why would the manufacturers care if the buyers make money?
No .. there was very little that wasn't club focused. There were a few smaller controllers (Denon MC4000 and such), but nothing new .. All the hype was on the really large units. I don't think there was a single rackmountable controller there. Probably no rackmountable mixers either (though I believe some of the battle style mixers have available ears).Great point... as long as they are selling.
NOTHING much geared towards wedding dj's. No new rackmountable controllers. All scratching dj's in attendance.
Not worth going any more.

Name any industry that caters to a demographic who refuse to change and only want reproductions of 30 year old standards?
OK .. those AREN'T mobile DJs and the discussion was for that niche.Name any industry that caters to a demographic who refuse to change and only want reproductions of 30 year old standards?
Hate it all you want.... but no new generation of dj is hoping to one day stand behind a rackmount podium with a wacky tie on and play the hokey pokey. There are hundreds of thousands of kids who want to learn to scratch...want to emulate their favorite edm dj... and have daddys money to do it.
Your lack of knowledge and or respect for TRUE dj culture and the artform of dj'ing will keep you in your corner with the new generations foot on your neck for the rest of your career.... enjoy

I'm not sure WHO wears a wacky tie, but crossfader fapping and wicka-wicka-wicka doesn't meet everyone's idea of an artform either ..
You are "assuming" that these larger decks are somehow innovative. They're just bigger. Built-in music management/players were around in the rack mount days too .. Pioneer MEP, the Numark DDS and D2, and others. The new controllers are amalgams of the tech from a few years back .. now in a non-upgradeable all-in-one configuration. Those are the future of mobile dj's.... never again will a mobile dj grow up to want what you guys are using.. they wont even want what the rest of us are using... they will no doubt dj with their minds or with their hands in the air like Tom Cruise in Minority Report...lol.... the moral here is... we either adapt with new innovation or we die out.

Again, nothing wrong with it if that's your style, but it does seem a bit overkill for ceremonies and cocktail hours, ..
If you're behind a facade, what do the aesthetics have to do with anything? And I don't have access to any palm sized devices that have multiple mic inputs .. I must have missed that intro. There again... ceremonies and cocktail can be handled by devices that fit in your palm...
You guys are asking companies to continue to make something thats aesthetically obsolete for 95% of the market ...and u dont even need or want a new rackmount controller... u just want the industry to make it so u still feel relevant and valued as a legitimate customer... i get that...and feel for you.

I don't care if the industry or anyone makes me feel relevant .. I actually DO want another rackmount controller for a backup system and my only choice is a NOS system on eBay. My 6000 doesn't have to be rackmounted (in fact it's in a glider case right now), but all my previous ones were. I like the option and ability to have everything pre-wired, including wireless mics and such .. can't do that easily with separate cases for everything .. which also kill the aesthetic ...
I don't carry amps or CD players (actually I do have one in my rack-mount Denon media player) .. but why should I need to have a glider case AND another mic case, when 2-4 rack units below the controller would fit them fine?lol...obviously im referring to media player only... if you arent using some sort of mic mixer and instead running all your ceremony mics through a dj controller...then....hmmmmm... not sure what to say....
I see your dilemma ... i had a rackmount unit for years and was so happy to get rid of it... imagine the novel idea of NOT having 200 pounds of amps ...cd players...etc to lug around in one giant lump...
The world is now your oyster....you are freed from those chains... grab some light equipment... a 2unit rack for some mics... install your power conditioner in your slider case (it can be done) and join the masses

And I don't use a DJ controller for multiple mic use .. I have a nice rack-mounted Allen&Heath ZED12FX for that ..
May-beee ...Sounds like you Sh## out of luck then...LOLOL
