I don't like to be out on New Year's Eve, so I don't even entertain the thought of DJing. But I did get my first call today. Any of you have NYE booked yet?

We are in the process of booking one now. It for my ex boss from when I was a paramedic several years ago. Its for his family, friends and employees. They are a returning client.

I do one every other year. What happens is, I accept a NYE gig and then am so traumatized by it, that I take the following year off; true story. In the future, I will most likely do the same thing, taking every other year off but by choice. In the future, I will only work on NYE if it is for a party / banquet and NOT a NYE wedding.

I have been left traumatized by both NYE weddings I've done in the past four years. Why you ask? Both weddings have cheaped out BIG time, neither had a full buffet or sit down meal and both left the guests' starving! I think it is BS to NOT serve a full meal at a 7 hour event: NYE or otherwise. If you want to have a wedding that sucks and ruin a regular Saturday in your guests' lives, that is not so bad but to ruin their New Years... WTF? Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!! On the other hand, when I've done NYE parties / banquets, they always been great. I am taking this year off, planning a road trip down the I-5 with the family. Any future NYE wedding inquiries I receive will be put through a rigorous questioning period by yours truly. :)

We have a free night at the local Woodsmen of the World building, it holds a couple hundred folks. No drugs, no drinking, no smoking, finger foods and soda, you have to be in HS and up to attend. We play 8-12 and target the event for the Christian couples who want a nice safe place to go and dance for several hours. Will probably book 6-10 paying events for the next year off this free event. Plus a lot of family I very seldom see will come in for it.

I, like a few of the others can't be paid enough to put up with the average drunk group on New Years Eve. Don't get me wrong, I drank for years, and have nothing against drinking, however I don't like being anywhere near a bunch of drunks. Now as far as smoking, never have, never will and can't stand to be around it at all. Will not play a smoking event for any amount of coin. Yes I am a hard liner, lost 10 relatives to death in a pack, including my mother when I was a senior in HS, she was 35 :(

OK my apologize, I got off topic and need to get off my soap box!!

We have four returns from last year again and room for one more. The one I am doing is a really older crowd that likes to rock out and most of them bail out at 1AM. I usually end up with about 25-30 that stay till 2AM. This is the fourth year for all of them

We don't actively pursue NYE gigs. I'd rather be safe at home. But, if the money was right then I would consider taking my chances with the amateur animals... ;)

I've never been anywhere but playing on a NYE. I did my first one at 13 and have played every year since....This year is the 30th year. The money is just too good to take it off. We celebrate the next evening

Had one that showed interest, but no offers yet.

No calls for NYE yet. Last year had one inquiry and quoted $700. They thought it was too much. Had a blast at home with the family, which you cannot put a price on.

We have a big wedding that night at one of our favorite venues.

I have a 12/29 but won't be taking a 12/31. That is our Anniversary and this is #24. My wife dealt me complete misery 2 years ago when I took a NYE.

I guess my wife is a little different. Book a new years eve event for big money and then spend it on her or a nice vacation for your anniversary. )

I would love a kick ass NYE gig,,, I haven't had one for about 4 years. The last great one I had was playing the Hard Rock Cafe' on Maui,,, small venue, but freaking great gig.... Had a couple of older parties and a wedding since then, but I want another slammin' party!

Still ZERO calls/inquiries for NYE. :eek:ccasion18:

Will sit home and enjoy the evening home with family.
