I have a gig coming up for Oktoberfest. They were going to have a polka band but decided to go with a dj to play both polka and some current music. I have only a handful of polka songs (like literally 5...I don't get many requests for that....and I hate polka :-/ ). Anyone know where to get a ton of songs? Here's the kicker...my laptop does not have a cd player where I can burn a cd into itunes etc. and I don't want to waste money on a cd burner or anything like that since cd's have all but gone away anymore.

Where are you located? Will this event have a meal where you may be required to furnish Oktoberfest music?

Buying a tune on Amazon and it's yours forever ... streaming it on Amazon Music and it's gone when the subscription ends.
 
Besides, everyone knows it's Munich or Pennsylvania ...
 
Seriously, are you expected to play any kind of music during buffet or meal or is this non-stop play during the event? Is this a function of a German-American Club?
 
We haven't talked about the details just yet. It's for a local brewery (not German).Because they had planned on a polka band at first, I'm naturally assuming they were going to expect to have at least a good number of polka, just not exclusively that. I just knew my 5 polka songs wouldn't cut it. :tired:

I have been doing Oktoberfest here in our 55+ community for several years. Also, when stationed with the military in Germany in the 70's my wife and actually attended Munich Oktoberfest. Send me via PM your telephone number and we can discuss, if you desire.

TJS...IF the theme is truly Oktoberfest, then I have several German Polka, Umm-Pah-Pah songs that can almost put you there at a Munich Oktoberfest. Give me a call or I can call you. No rush...seems like plenty of time left. Agree that when you have your face-to-face meeting to sort out music, etc. will be helpful.

May very well take you up on that. I'm gonna try and work with my Amazon Music account first and see how that goes. I did find some songs last night and downloaded them into a playlist for offline play so they are free. Some of the music quality isn't the best. Funny thing though? With Amazon, when you start downloading songs into playlists, it thinks you like polka and starts recommending music based on that. Now I have polka recommendations up the wazoo lol
