My partner called me early this morning around 9:30 telling me about an event to do on July 25th. He woke me up. The event is to be in a hall across the street from where he lives. It's on Orange Str
If it’s indoors, it ain’t happening as of today w governors announcement of suspending indoor dining indefinitely. And 50%? We weren’t even at 25% capacity. Now if they did it at a private residence, they could do up to 50 people I think. Outdoor events are at 500 people starting on Thursday.Sorry hit the wrong button. Anyway we have a wedding to do on July 25th in a hall on Orange Street in Newark, NJ. This event is across the street from where my partner lives. He lives on North 11th Street. So don't have to travel far at all. Just a few hundred feet and we're there. The event is 7-10pm. So first job coming back. All we need to use is just 2 tops in this venue. This will be our first time doing an event in this venue.
My concern is how many people are to attend the reception. Still got to think safety first with all that's going on. What are the venues restrictions to have an event there. Is it 50% capacity or what? Things like that.
That means using the skirts for the speaker stands for the first time. Nice to finally get to do some kind of event after months of doing none at all.
Cuckoos working for worms may be the most plausible suggestion so far.He woke you up at 9:30?
Early bird gets the worm
For some years. The place was always busy during the weekend before the recent events. How long has your partner lived across the street from a venue he's never played at?
Sounds like another real go-getter.How long has your partner lived across the street from a venue he's never played at?

You mean luck into an event that most likely will be cancelled ...Sounds like another real go-getter.
What a brilliant move to play it cool for "some years", not approaching the venue just across the street and patiently waiting for a pandemic and then POUNCING on the previously unimagined opportunity to luck into an event there...now who's in demand. Shrewd, very shrewd.

No, going into a venue IS the way to establish a relationship. Waiting for someone to "see you" will rarely get you enough business. You can go into a venue looking to sell your services and it may or may not work. Normally someone has to have seen you providing your services or they won't consider contacting you if it's a venue. When it comes to an individual contacting you that's much different. They don't have to have seen you in action before. That has to do with how well you sell yourself making a potential client feeling like they got to have you to do their event.
Some venues may be skeptical trying out someone new they know nothing about because they don't know if they will be getting someone that's bottom of the barrel making their venue look bad or causing a major problem, or if the service will be top notch.
