How many of you will be pre-ordering the IPhone 10?

Mix, as with anything, technology changes and it's up to you if you want to keep up with the latest or not. To some a car gets them from point a to point b, and to some it represents and means more to them. Some are content with tube tv's still. Same with a phone, and just about everything else. Apple has iphones as little as $400 (iphone se), so there's a phone for everyone, but the people that want the best and latest, will pay the premium. My dad is one of those who doesn't need the top phone but still likes the simplicity of the iphone and the large screen and apps that allow him to not need a computer anymore. He got the regular iphone 7 (not plus) and that's good enough for him, before that he had the iphone 5s, so he waited 3 cycles before upgrading, and isn't going to be getting the 8 or X.

The funny thing is you mentioned that you have a separate camera for pics, but if you took the cost of of the camera and applied it to a better iphone, you'd actually have a better camera probably (unless you use a dslr, which I doubt you actually use it to its true potential), and it'd be easier to share your photos and videos online rather than ask us all the time how to do it (and they'd be in focus).

I remember when the first IPhone came out and people were going crazy to get one. It cost people $500. Now that phone is obsolete. I waited till the price came down to $100 and that's when I bought one. Now it would be hard to find one. Never mind if it works or not.

I'm a technology guy, but was kind of a late adopter of cell phone technology. Frankly, I had little interest in calling anybody or having anybody call me.[emoji4]I still rarely use my phone to call anyone, and rarely get called on my cell phone.

Smart phones, though, offer MUCH more than just calling capability, and I use mine to do so much now, I think it would be extremely difficult to live without one. I don't need one that costs $1000, but I need one with a good processor and a little storage. I don't know if I'll ever get to the point that I want the latest and/or greatest phone... not likely.[emoji4]

Likewise I hardly talk, with exception of clients. It's everything else that it does that is the real benefit. Even down to losing wallet and having a backup form of payment (it needs your fingnerorint to work). The fact that it also integrates with my mac is a big plus too as I can take calls and iMessage right from my computer. There's just so many awesome features available out there to use that being reasonably current with your smartphone is a nobrainer.

And as Taso said:

Which means that when it came out, it was the best and latest - and they paid a premium for it.

for me they were stupid to do so unless it was absolutely needed. Most just wanted it because it was the latest thing. Personally I couldn't justify spending $500 on a cellphone at that time. I had more important things to do with that $500 then spend it on a cellphone. The one I have now cost me over $500 which got paid in monthly payments. I never thought I spend that much for a cellphone but one of the guys I had working with me had this phone and I fell in love with it.

Now with that being said how many of you will buy this phone or one like it and get rid of your pc or laptop since you can do all the stuff you say it can do?

Very few if any will replace a pc or laptop with a phone, the two have very different uses for working professionals, however I would assume that PC, laptop and tablet sales have taken a pretty significant hit as the phones become bigger and ore powerful, i

I haven't done enough research to figure out what I'll upgrade to, but I do want the camera improvement. I have the 7 right now, and my wife's Pixel camera SMOKES it. Like, this is the difference...

Granted hers is also a better framed shot... but look at the difference in how the camera adjusted the colors. It looked WAY closer to the photo on the right in the space.

If the new iPhone camera can't get close, I might consider switching just to be able to capture better content.

Def getting it... downside is 64gb may not be enough. So i may have to go for the next one up. Photos and video are a big part of my online branding so camera quality and such makes a big deal to me as well as larger screen.

I utilize the upgrade plan through Apple so it's paid in monthly interest free installments and I actually only pay for half of it since I can change phones every year when the new one comes out so I'm always up to date.

In your case Taso why wouldn't you go with a high quality camera rather than a cell phone?

I have a high quality camera (most of the videos at my events are done with it) and have a photographer on my team at most of my events who uses some of the best equipment. It's the snap pics on the go and upload them to Snapchat and Instagram immediately moments that I need the phone for and that make the difference. Also a huge screen is beneficial because lots of people ask me what I do or come up to me at a party and the conversation leads to an opportunity to show pics and videos of what I do so having a nice large screen with amazing resolution and fast phone is very beneficial.

I'm not sure yet which one I'll choose. If the face ID seems to work really well, I'll probably go with the X. So many of my apps, like banking and credit card apps, use touch ID to log in. It's extremely handy. I'll have a hard time giving that up, but we will see.

But I've always told anyone that will listen that the WORST investment is a cheap smart phone. Regardless of the operating system. Top of the line Android phones are pretty close in price to iPhones. So the price will not be a factor in my decision,

Cheap smart phones usually have bloatware, not enough memory, and a slow processor that slows things to a halt when trying to do anything useful on it. Not to mention conflicting apps or lack of software updates.

So people end up paying for a data plan that they get little to no use of.

Only issue with the facial recognition is use in the car. I used to drive to customers a lot and holding the fingerprint recognition button was pretty easy to unlock the phone while driving. Not sure I want to be holding up a phone in front of my face on the highway. I wish the X had both options.

I have a 6 .. still works, but now I'm 3 gens behind, so I'll probably go with an 8 or 8+.

I have the S6 now. I know people with the S8 - and it is nice. I think the iPhone is a little nicer. For me, it's also the 'it just works' factor. Mind you, I haven't seen any of the newer iPhones yet. I see the 6 and 6+ often enough.
