Now that's a system you should be selling. Do you have any pictures of people standing in front of them holding a conversation while the music is at a higher danceable volume? Or how comfortable would the people be sitting 3 to 6 feet in front of that setup, again while the levels are at a high volume?

I'm not nit picking but those situations are all to common and have been all but eliminated for me with the L1's.

People know better than to stand in front of REAL Speakers! :sqlaugh::rofl:

Generally i try to set my speakers up in a way where people aren't sitting directly in front of them having a conversation (I want them dancing) for those that want to converse the situation is simple those few go to the back of the room.

I mount my mains well above the heads of the people usually about 7 to 8 feet high this covers the entire venue with conversation level sound without blaring in the ears of even those seated within 3 feet of the speakers I simply turn down the bass output during dinner music and background stuff hit the button to put bass into the mains and let her go.

Again coverage and SPL levels are directly related to the way the setup is configured and operated. Sound levels are directly controled by my finger!

YouTube - The New QSC K Series Power Speakers
take a PEAK at this review. Tell me what the 1000 watts is really only going to do. I enjoy the regular mention of loud..... I suppose Loud is great but not the main factor. Loud can sound good and clean but often it is just Loud and abusive.

Now these in the 8" I may be interested in! I got to hear it first!

I can understand that and if I had venues where I could work that setup that would be no problem. But for 90% of my venues this would be unexceptable. Playing a high end wedding in one of the oldest and most historic inns in New England, The Wayside Inn, I would be killing people with such a setup. The Bose L1's are the perfect solution for my situations.

Thanks for sharing your setup.

There was another point Rob made that i wanted to hit on.... foot print!

Rob,

Please inform us of the foot print size you are refering too! what area does two of your L1's take up on the floor?

My Pair of Peavey SP 118's and pair of SP4's (215) take up a grand total of 960 sq inches! How much smaller of a space does a pair of L1's and a pair of B1's take up?

Multiply the length times the width of the base of one L1 and one B1 and multiply that number by two and you will have your answer!

I already know the answer I just want to see you put it in print :sqlaugh:

Oh crap now I have to do math... hold on let me take off my shoes... LOL

Lets take the 5 divide it by Pi then take the square root of.... ooooooooo screw you! :sqlaugh:

Ok so ya if you put two systems together the actual foot print or area needed to setup is ruffly the same but the percieved size is definately smaller givin' the shape of the L1.

Here's another one for ya... if I want a really small foot print I can just setup one L1 and 2 B1's and still rawk the socks off of any wedding event....

GW is getting into the act as the owner of Mobile Farce 1 MC's and DJ's looking to open up shop in the Dallas Fort Worth Area. Look out the mountain has a Past Presidents endorsement.

So I was at my daughters softball game this evening. She was playing a team from Hopkinton. That's the town where the Boston Marathon begins and It's right next door to us. My wife who has nothing to do with nor knows much about my business looks up at the press box behind home plate and says "look, they're using Bose speakers". I asked my wife how she could tell they were Bose from so far away. She said they just look like Bose. Sure enough as I got closer they had outdoor Bose speakers mounted to the press box and using them as their field PA.

This doesn't mean anything, just thought I'd share.:sqwink:

wow kool Ron they are pretty hard to miss

especially if they are using the Bose L100's/:sqcool:

Ron,

Why would such a system be killing anyone at any venue?

It doesn't matter if it is an elegant wedding with a quite background sound all night or a rip roaring redneck hoe down, the volume levels are still controlled by my finger!

If high SPL is needed I can supply it, if it isn't I can supply that as well!

Rob,

I can setup a single 18 inch sub with a tree and mount two 15 inch speakers on it. My foot print is then actually smaller than your single L1 and B1 setup! And I am still running the same power as the full two sub system! Or I can stack two subs and add the tree and a pair of 10 or 12 inch mains and still have a smaller footprint and all the power!

I guess all us Bose owners don't know what we are talking about and should amend our ways and rejoin the flock..... NO THANK YOU!

If being a Bose user and providing unparalled sound enjoyment to our clients is a crime and punishable, then send me to jail.

There is nothing to be gained by using conventional speaker systems for the type of events done by me. I don't desire them and neither do my clients for if they did they would have hired you (metaphorically speaking).

ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think not knowing much about the actual workings of sound systems is a plus for me. I don't understand db's and sp's and mspca's, etc. I only know my own ears and the reactions of the guests. And since the reactions have change for the better considerably then what I have works wonders. Besides to many people around here are in love with Bose. It's a win win situation.

And I'm spent. Well not really, I still need to spend for then new Bose compact system. :sqlaugh:

Well... you don't need to. The L1 does it all for you. ;)

Look, I'm glad you guys are happy with your choice in PA. Whatever turns yas on. I'm just sayin' that not everyone in this biz wants or needs a spoon-fed sound system.

That's what Steve, Jacob, myself and the others have been saying. We're not the bad guys. We're familiar with processing and management of our sound systems. We don't need the L1, that's all.

Few of the wedding parties I do are in church social halls with 30 guests. More often than not, we've got a dance floor thumping, party hearty crowd. Sometimes we're outdoors with significant ambient noise. We simply ease the slider back for the ceremony and dinner then push it up for the dancing later.

If you're not experienced with gain settings, active crossovers, balanced line patching and proper processing adjustments, the L1 would naturally seem like the greatest thing since ice water. For my part, I believe it would be more cost-effective to study basic PA processing than spend 5 grand on a 300-something-watt system that does it for you.

But that's just me. :)
