No problem - hopefully we are helping you.

If you do that, just remember to remove the 'no longer in the library' files from the library. In addition, if you had a tagging issue, this would have nothing to do with iTunes - completely separate issue.

If you're using iTunes in the same manner that I am, iTunes is really stupid - it doesn't know anything other than what you're telling it (tags and file location). Anything outside of iTunes is where the problems usually come up.

Yes you both are really a big help.

I'm an OCD tag guy, so I know it's not a tag issue - ripped with Audiograbber and cleaned up with mp3tag..

I'll check on that "no longer in the library" pop up when you delete songs.

I'm pretty sure I did that and then asked it to NOT delete the actual files.

I just use I Tunes to import and delete music files on the device - that's it.

I'm an OCD tag guy too - completely anal about it .. but I also know mistakes happen. No one is perfect (not saying there was a mistake or not).

FWIW, I rip with Windows Media Player and manually key everything and I also use MP3Tag as my tag editor.

On the iPad, (and I believe the iPod), you can select by Artist (it doesn't use the 'Album Artist' field) .. but this will sort and display according to whatever is in the Artist field. Using Rod Stewart as an example, all the Rod Stewarts would come up under Rod Stewart, then the Rod Stewart ft other artists. The only way to change this is to remove the ft from the Artist field.

See page 6 for more - though the discussion was about Beyonce songs. Same idea though.
