I used my new Irradiant led gobos (2) last weekend. Printed a solid-black background with white (clear) text. When projected, it appeared light blue, really washed out. It basically projected exactly what my inkjet printer put on the transparency. Before I punt the projectors, how do you guys print dark, more contrasting gobos on transparency paper?

By the way, I know I can print black letters on a clear background but the lettering still looks washed out. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

My was printed on Canon iP 90 using the highest quality setting.
It looks cheap, but what can you expect from 60.00 projector:sqerr:

Anyway, that blue color looks very strange, something wrong with your printer or design.

making transparencies darker

The problem is the blacks. You just can’t get a good solid opaque black background. Some work better than others, but usually you get a gray background with bleed through. This occurs with a ink jet or laser printer. You can make them, but you can see the difference between the two in these photos.

Do you guys think the contrast would be better to do black (gray after it prints) lettering with a clear background? That's what they have on the sample. Come to think of it, the sample is actual film that's been developed. Wonder if that'd be a possibility?

I use a chepo dlp projector for gobo work now. With a laptop and any presentation program you can sharp text and many animations...

Which projector?

BWIW, I went back and re-printed. Went into printer properties and selected "HP Transparencies" for paper type and put it on the best quality setting. Much improved, this actually looks black. I'm gonna try these out tonight. I've really thought about the projector route but these little gobo projectors are all to handy and I think if I can get film to a decent quality, it'll work okay, at least for short-throw situations.
