Wanted to share this. Take a look: 17 Charts That Show Where Social Media is Heading - (https://neilpatel.com/blog/social-media-trends/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=email)

This report seems to confirm that Taso has it right. Posting to Social Media, and specifically posting videos is THE biggest bang for your buck these days. I know in my own case, dropping both TK and WW has done ZERO damage in terms of inquiries. It makes me sick that I was wasting so much money on those platforms. Now in my own case, the next big challenge is to learn how to deliver quality video content from my events.

Incidentally, I believe that the ineffectiveness of WW/TK is possibly only tied to DJs and Photogs. I had a chat with a venue owner last weekend who told me she averages 6 leads per day from WW (10 during peak booking season) and they only run a basic, paid ad. Their venue did 57 events last year (@ $8500/night). Ad the game just keeps on changing by the day..............

Lol told ya... videos more effective than anything else I've ever done. However, it's also the hardest... not to physically make the videos... but to build a proper portfolio, as you can only make as many videos as you have events. So start ASAP and capture everything. I'm a single op with over 300+ videos... there's no one else, not even multiops (with exception of 1) with as many high quality videos of actual events. But that took 6+ yrs to build. They're not just effective for getting leads, but also for selling add ons. In the last wedding video recap I posted, that event had no lighting. I shared with you a video fo the same venue, with lighting to show the difference. Last week I had a client booking the same venue, and showed them both videos and as a result they added 4 moving heads. They originally thought no lighting was needed since the venue had uplighting, but once I showed them the difference with videos (not photos), it was a done deal.

The part that surprised me about Patel's blog is that Youtube has equal eyeballs to Facebook. That stands to substantiate what you've been preaching all along. I've tried making videos (and will continue to do so) but without a front light the vids are grainy and dark and not something that I consider an asset to show.

Facebook is where you get random information blasted in your face, most of which doesn't appeal to your needs at all... but often is interesting... and lets you know whats going on in the lives of friends and family. If someones on youtube its for a purpose, and that's what makes it so beneficial. If someone saw my video on there, it's because they wanted to see something like it. Yes... dj's watch my videos too... but so do perspective clients, especially those that are searching for videos on their venue in general.

As far as camera quality goes... the key to me is the lens and light... lens being the primary item to focus on, as sometimes you don't want to use a light if it's a distraction, or if there is another videographer and you don't want to cause conflict. A good lens should be either f2.8 or lower.

Okay, so that makes sense. A DSLR with fast glass. We have 4 full-frames available, but all 4 are in use when my wife & son both shoot. I've been looking for an excuse to pickup a Sony A7 mirrorless................
