I don't get it. If it's in your basement for your use, why so concerned with the details?

Because I'm a perfectionist and if a job is worth doing, its worth doing well, or as good as you can, it is a party area, so I will be entertaining and hosting parties. (there is going to be in other parts of the basement,) a wet-bar and food area, it is a cut down version of a party hall, probably around 20-30 people (in the whole basement. So parties will now come to me I wont need to lug my gear around nor have to pay for a party hall.

A good analogy, if you go out wearing a nice suit, you can bet someone will notice you didn't polish your shoes.
Life is ALWAYS about the details.

It's not what you do it's what you don't do that usually is noticed.

no harm, no foul, truth be told even if it was not for public consumption, I'm a bit of an OCD maniac. I decorated my daughters bedroom before she was born, took me months, every detail had to be right, I even repainted stuff, because I didn't get the right line on the ceiling LOL

I even painted bit's you would never see, (in her closet behind the wall - so looking from a normal view it was out of sight)... years later a builder had to climb up into our attic, entry was through the walk in.

He laughed at me afterwards and said, "hey man good job on the painting, pity I was the only one likely to see it" my OCD swooned !

carrying on

OK, it's the little things that counts ! :) as well as tidying up and acting as a cable run, I needed to make something to put my record sleeves on when I'm playing them (of course the full covering rack is not fitted, also something to stop the CD's from falling behind, the idea is to keep things within easy reach and storage when I'm DJ'ing, also I have a love of sticking things to walls, so you dont loose them, the 2 remotes and also a laptop output amp processor

I'm not going to finish this part of till I'm happy all the rest of the rig is up, still have to fit and run my wireless and other mics

I'll have to make something up to cover the restP1010540.JPG

OK, so carrying on, I am limited for space and really need 2 full size racks for records and CD's, but I can only fit one, so that is going to be my goto, I decided to put another one for my backup which doesnt get much use, so in the fuq up which is what the builders did, there is a little niche, where you could only get a midget dance in :) so I decided to put a rack there (will be covering it up with black Velvet when I finish, anyway, I thought I'd also add a neon sign, got one off amazon about 90 bucks and it looks cool, the name of my new club "Cocktails and Dreams" ok I know it's from the mobey Cocktail. but anyway,

Enjoy the pics couldnt get any in the dark, but it is VERY bright and vivd

ok, so now were on to making a counter top, it dawned on me, I still need some additional space and a place to keep my drinks snacks and people out
so what better that to make a lifting, hinged counter top, 2x4 MDF, piano hinge , some odd sods of wood to make a couple of ledges, a catch device and spending lots of time measuring, really need to buy a skill saw !

So hope you enjoy !

OK moving along, I decided to play around with some mirror tiles, for decoration and for enhancing the lights and also to give some depth to the room, they are acrylic tiles, work a treat, not a lot to say, came with adhesive stickers ! 4 packs of 8 $90, I cant take a picture in the dark to show how they work :)P1010611.JPG

Well back in the saddle, so making a Facade for the rig, I had some 6" boards, but needed a bigger one to be more soothing on the eye, I mnaged to get a 12" by 6ft board, exact requirement, no cutting, I put some construction adhesive to both surfaces and used my nail gun to secure, followed by some screws, looks firm enough, no one should be hanging on it, I'm having nightmares on the whole front falling off in the middle of a GIG lol

I'm going to cover in black felt, including the side bar closing lid table and also going to put a strip of LED lights so I can see my records needles etc afterwards
Also acts as a backrest so I can keep records sleevesP1010005.JPGP1010006.JPGP1010007.JPGP1010008.JPG
