These "mega" churches are a bit ridiculous do people really think spending all the money bring them closer to god
Does every Kardashian surgery get them to believe they're closer to being good looking?

Churches are suppose to be poor or just doing OK financially. Most of their money is suppose to benefit the needy...not put some Pastor up in a Mansion or provide big pay for church staff. A million dollars for a sound system for a church...Makes this appear more like a big Business...NOT a religious institution. Just sayin'

$100K is nothing .. many night clubs do more than that for 400 people. And for churches, you also need to blend the gear into the building .. and that usually means smaller gear, which usually means you need higher performance gear to compensate. In churches you'll see a lot of Martin Audio, Meyer Sound, etc. because they will custom paint as necessary and they have some of the best performing gear for the physical size .. and they cost more.

Most large churches are on par with good size concert venues.

Two of my l1 model 2's could do that room, no problem. $5500. Done :)

Churches generally have no problems with money.

My High School Auditorium could see 2,200. All they had to provide sound in there for musicals, assemblies, talent shows etc. Were 6 OLD EV Speakers in the front (I believe early 90s models), and they had 2 smaller speakers in the back of the auditorium (I think 10s). It got loud enough in there (Didn't sound great by any means) but there was enough volume. I doubt they had more than $20,000 invested in their speaker system for the auditorium. The wiring for the system was probably installed years ago...just replace speakers when needed.

Again, I find it hard to believe A Million dollars on sound is a wise decision for a venue that only has a capacity of 2,000 people.

The Rotosphere Q3 by Chauvet is essentially a knock off of the Starburst from ADJ.

I was disappointed with the brightness of the ADJ Starburst. I don't even bring it out if the ceiling in th venue is more than 13 feet from the ground (and that is with the light mounted on top of a speaker on a stand)...a High Ceiling and you can't even see the beams hit the ceiling unless it is completely dark. ...It claims 15 watt LEDs inside of it....there is no way they are 15 watt. I feel the LEDs inside need to be about 2.5x to 3x brighter than they are for it to be a real effective light effect. My Vertigo LED, and Chauvet Mushroom light has brighter beams. The light doesn't cover more than a small dance floor area. I was just disappointed with it. ...It also takes a while to turn on and get going when using a light controller...I always have to go to the menu and reset it for it to get going. So using it for small intermittent bursts isn't feasible unless you DMX control it.

Religion is a great business. Just like banks, army, politics, oil, etc... But you have to sell your soul if you want the top position.

Thanks for the dj toys topic! Looking for new stuff from Eliminator Lighting.

Not hardware related but a super nice interview with the legend

This summer past while in Niagara Falls, I was talking to a guy who was doing FOH at a small outdoor concert. Turbosound 15's over KV2 18's. He was walking around in the crowd and controlling everything with the X-air on a tablet. He seemed happy with the software overall, but showed me how laggy it was when he tried to move multiple sliders in unision. Don't know if it was the software itself or lack of horsepower in the tablet but similar issues have been reported in forums by others. As there was no latency otherwise, it's doubtful it was a connection issue. Hopefully it has been corrected by now but it's something worth investigating before purchase.

I have the X-Air XR12 .. haven't noticed lag, but I know if you move too far from the unit, the built-in WiFi sucks. Best to add an external Router.
