My second gig from last weekend was a short 2 hour event for the local Jack and Jill chapter. It's a family based social group from I can tell. This was another gig I subcontracted from another DJ. The client asked in advance if I had a long extension cord and I told them I did. I had about 200 feet of extension cords with me. When I arrive the client tells me her husband provided a generator. It was a Nexus 2000 watt EGO Power Station. It wasn't a generator instead it was a big battery pack. I was very skeptical but it got me through my 2 hour gig using just my RCF J8s, Laptop and Phenyx Pro wireless mic. This thing is heavier than my gas generator but it is silent. The client owns a farm and they say that they use this for power when they are out working in the field.

I ended up being placed in an area away from all of the activity for this event. I was under a gazebo in the park but everything was happening further away in the rec center or with the horse back rides that were also part of the entertainment. I was just providing sound to an empty gazebo where people were supposed to eat lunch. Since I was alone I took some time to make a quick video of how well the batteries worked. Have any of you ever used something like this to power your DJ setup outdoors?

Costco has a BIG Battery Back Up with multiple AC ports on it. I saw it the other day. It is like a small computer tower, but DENSE. I believe it is heavier than one of my Alto TS312 Speakers. Great deal though. It is meant to stay in an office or home, but I believe it would power a DJ system and even some LED lightsfor quite some time. 900 watts total output!

I have a portable 300 watt "ALLSEES" Battery I got off Amazon over 5 years ago for $194. I can run a single 10" Alto TS110A speaker, mixer, and wireless mic, and a laptop system off of it for 2 hours. The laptop probably sucks the most power to be honest. If I run a laptop off battery only for a ong while, I could probablly get 3 hours out of it.
