Back in the early 90s almost mid 90s Peavey were my speakers of choice along with crown amps

I was going to buy PEAVEY DM System I don't know if it's me but I went to guitar center to listen to hear speakers either my hearing has elevated to cleaner sound or these speakers are were setup wrong or simply they are garbage?

anyone using peavey powered systems

I do not run Peavey active's - I still run Peavey passive's when it's called for. Active, I'm EV and QSC. From what I've seen and heard, the Peavey Active's are ok and probably situated between Behringer and JBL, QSC.

Peavey's actives are what I would condisider an upper low end speaker, they are riding the coat tails of the super reliable gear from the 80's and 90's, once a great company now mostly just so so gear, there are much better options in the same price range

I have the predecessor of the DM 15inch sub. Basically the same thing but the DM got rid of the casters (I am assuming for cost). It's a reliable sub. I bought it used (rental) for a really good deal but it still had 4 years of the 5 years of the warranty. Clean sound and plenty loud for most of the wedding I do (200 has been the biggest thus far). I wish I would have bought something bigger though since I am doing a lot of school dances now...and renting KW181's eat into my profit margin.

If going Passive I have found the Peavey DSP IPR 3000 to be an awesome Sub amp with oodles of clean and very powerful bass.
I also use Peavey low rider drivers in all my subs, this combo really works well and in the past few years I'm yet to be disappointed.

As for full range active stuff it might be a good idea to stick with the likes of QSC, EV, RCF and other acronyms :)

I owned a pair of the SP2 TI's for ever (they took many a pounding) and I thought I blew on of the BW woofers since the coil seemed to be sticking and rubbing in the groove.
Turned out that the foam filter in the back of the magnet had melted or liquefied (as it may do) and got into the groove...Anyways I unbolted the magnet and cleaned the grove and coil with some isopropyl and canned air which fixed the issue.
I did blow a horn in one and melted the big cap on the crossover in the other :)
"Go Peavey Black Widow" (and low rider) :)

I don't know why peavey just takes its black widow line of subs and make them active

I have owned a ton of Peavey gear over the years, The older SP series stuff with black widow drivers was nearly indestructible, I literally dropped an SP2A down a flight of stairs it was scuffed up but still played perfectly, the CS series amps, the old ones were just rock solid reliable, I still have some from the late 70's that work as well as the day they were built, once production moved from Mississippi to China the quality went down hill fast

If the black widow has the same build quality they need to go back to the drawing board and make them active
