Yes, that's our PrimeCuts Monthly disc. Those songs were on the weekly disc months ago.

So, wouldn't that make them out of sync with each other? The monthly subscribers are trailing behind. Why would anyone with a monthly subscription not want to switch to a weekly one after this realization? Sort of renders the monthly useless.

:triconfused:

I guess it all depends on the type of DJ and business. I try to do 6 or more events in a month, so I think I would benefit from the weekly. Budget also plays a roll as well.

Some may only need the monthly that do 3 or less events in a month. Hobbyist or bedroom DJ may benefit from the monthly as well. A strictly wedding only DJ may use the monthly also. I am only guessing for discussion sake.

If you get the monthly or weekly it makes me happy to see that you are paying for the service and the tunes and not stealing it.:yopolitician:

If I may speak for us monthly users. We've looked into the weekly service, but where pretty much all we do are weddings, most of the urban and rock stuff that comes on the discs isn't of much use to us.

Also, if we get a feeling that an album is going to be useful, we'll go ahead and buy it. For example, the song "Free" by The Zac Brown Band, we bought their album when it came out (after previewing it) and the song has finally made it to Prime Cuts this month, but we've had it for almost two years.

We find the Prime Cuts monthly most useful for the one and dones that are the current model in the music industry.

For me I'm in a completely 180 degree different realm from JMac.... where his area isn't heavy into the urban and dance tracks especially at weddings.... here up North we are.

So, for us getting the weekly MP3 disc keeps me up to date and having the hottest music that even my wedding guests are demanding.

Rob brings up a good point, in my area we need more than the 3-4 country songs that come out on Prime Cuts, especially when they're about breakups and cheating exs, etc. Actually if Prime Cuts offered a purely country monthly service, we'd probably be signing up.

I use TopHits weekly T-discs, and subscribe to various recurrent discs, too. Since I do a variety of events each month, I need current music almost weekly. With teens walking around with their cell phones at parties always attempting to "trip" up the dj by asking for "current" music.

I don't believe that Prime Cuts is able to provide the most recent music in a timely fashion. However, I must agree that you don't get the "fluff" when subscribing to Prime Cuts...nothing but hits.

To address some of the questions/comments...

- Why would anyone want monthly over weekly? Like mentioned above, someone who just DJs 1-2 weddings a month may not feel the need to have every song that charts top 30 right away. The monthly service is ONLY songs that chart top 10, meaning they won't get the song until it charts top 10. Our monthly subscribers like knowing they can pop a PrimeCuts Monthly disc in and every song will be a huge hit song. For years, many wedding only DJs would get 1 disc-a-month from their subscription service but it generally consisted of Pop & Urban. We had a lot of people say they wanted something like that but with more variety. So, we created PrimeCuts Monthly specifically for the wedding DJ or others who don't need tons of new music (car show DJs, primarily Karaoke DJs, etc.), but need a good variety.

- Here in Dallas, we're playing more new music at weddings than ever. I've been DJing 10 years between Dallas & Chicago and it used to be you'd throw in a few songs that came out within the last few months. Now, we're getting requests for the absolute newest stuff and a lot more new music. With YouTube, iPods, a lot more new music in commercials, etc., even older family members are familiar with the latest music.

- TwinSpinDJ: I have a feeling you haven't compared us side-by-side with Top Hits. We generally release songs sooner than them on our weekly service...and our weekly service is only $51 a month vs. the $78 it costs to get weekly service from Top Hits. They do offer a good service but most people who are paying for a weekly service would rather get the disc every week rather than wait until the end of the month.

Hope all the info helps answer the questions...and as always we appreciate all the support here. We have a lot of ODJT PrimeCuts subscribers!

Here's the best part: You get the hits AND the fluff (if you get the PrimeCuts weekly CD in MP3 format). The fluff is the HitDisc and PrimeCuts latin content; think of it as close to 50 extra songs each week.

If you only want the hits, you still have those, and they're separated from the fluff.

I don't know when that was mailed to you but the songs listed I have been playing for over a month now.

Cam, you are almost always on the cutting edge, music wise, so I respect your comment. This time of year I do a lot of weddings in a rural area, so the "latest greatest crappy hit" is not that critical to have. I really appreciate your lists of new music, so I cannot disagree with your opinion....

I know these songs are not the newest, but for the $$, for me a lot of this time of year (99% weddings) the service is very valuable. This is my first experience with a subscription service, and so far its been pretty darn good, given its a monthly trial basis. No service is going to have the absolutely latest greatest, but Primecuts seems to be doing a nice job.

Thanks Jim W. for the insight regarding YOUR weekly discs (MP3 format) I presume for only $51/month? New year just around the corner...something to think about.

That's right. $51.45 a month, includes weekly shipping for a disc every week (either CD or MP3 format).

Have you ever gotten a sample? If not send an e-mail to [email protected] with your mailing address and your preference (CD or MP3 disc) and we'll get one out to you. (This offer goes for anyone who wants a free sample!).
