In all honesty, religion can be fun. It moves people apart, yet pulls them together, in a certain sort of way.

Science can be boring -- but religion never has a dull moment :sqbiggrin:
 
Harry, I wasn't clear, I used poor sentence structure and punctuation so it wasn't clear what I was trying to say. What I meant is that they don't want to be mocked or ridiculed for their religious beliefs if they participate.

Or they might be reluctant to express similar ideas to what I did because they don't want to be ostracized or shunned or the object of anger so they might not want to chime in. I have a pretty good idea based on the very few responses that did get posted that some folks were irked. That tends to keep other people out of the discussion. In fact I think you're annoyed.

But don't you think it's odd that more people aren't willing to participate? Maybe a lot of them are just busy and don't have the time? Maybe a lot of them just don't give a hoot?
 
Here's my 2 cents...

People can believe whatever they want to believe as long as they don't harm anyone else or force their beliefs on me.

I'm a firm believer that you don't need an organized religion or a special building to know what is right and what is wrong.

Wiz...I'm not offended by what you say at all. Don't be so hard on yourself....We're into page two and nobody that I can tell is too ruffled. Apathetic maybe, but not ruffled.

I'm sure everyone on here has said their piece in other similiar religiopolitical threads and they are done. (that's italian I think)

Kinda hard to ruffle most folks on here seein' how most of us have taken lickings for our beliefs elswhere.

We're the island of misfit DJ's! We get along....lol.....

You could have your own religion based on non-belief!

I have been impressed with the quality of the people here.
I wish I had never seen this discussion. It's not my goal to alienate people.
I hope that people will be able to put this behind and not hold a grudge against me.

Also, the possibility exists that many members know better than to get involved in a religious or political discussion. We've had a few preachers here and it wasn't a pretty sight. As I mentioned in my first post in this thread, that's the stuff that killed the old Carvin bbs.

I've gotta give everyone here credit for the professionalism and restraint. Your candor speaks volumes for ODJT. :)

To be honest, this thread is probably better suited for the Big Debates forum than the Pub.

Nah, not odd. Like I said before, it is a personal belief, and many choose to keep it personal. I will add to this discussion wherever I can, but I noted that I have never expressed my actual belief. That is because I got my point out on the original topic without HAVING to do that. It is the nature of some threads, regardless of subject, to just not get participation...this thread would not be the first...and getting people who come to a DJ site to voluntarily discuss religion may not be the kettle of worms they are looking to dive into on their online time.

I am not annoyed at all. My only reasoning in pointing things out to you as I have is just to maybe show you how tolerance works so that it may spread to you or others who may be lacking. Leading by example as it were...

...And I think that many read Kris first post that he really didnt want it to turn into a religious debate...

I'm catholic (did not have any choice)

My 2 comments are:

I believe in a superior being
I believe in the power of praying

Everything else is BS.
 
Everyone has a right to his or her own beliefs I for one will not harbor any ill will towards anyones views or statements made here (Wiz) so don't even give it another thought you godless heathern:sqlaugh:
