As I have stated previously, I have drastically cut down my number of shows this year, eliminating 95 percent of bar and club gigs and limiting myself to 20 private events. In 2022 all in all I did a 136 events my calendar for this year was full, however when the areas most popular wedding photographer asks you to perform at her wedding reception, you almost can’t say no, I consider this quite an Honor. She sees all of the DJs multiple times a year and said he had to have me, even moved her wedding to a date I had open.

That's a great compliment to you. Knock em dead at the wedding! I know you will.

So, this is a thread about work titled: 'Retirement?'

I don't know where to start, if the start is an end that starts all over, instead of ending,.

I appreciate your sarcastic demeaning comments. Its no wonder everyone on this forum thinks your an ass, It’s amazing that you can talk down to people on an online forum yet be able to run a successful business, or at least you tell us that’s what you do. For all we know you could be sitting in your mom’s basement waiting for her to bring you you’re pizza rolls and kool-aide. Literally everyone on this forum besides you treats others with a least a shred of decency and respect.
You have a wealth of valuable knowledge and should be well respected for it, however your demeanor makes most people dislike you.

Don't go there feeding into his stuff. Take the high road. Sooner or later everybody will retire from something. Nobody gets to anything for ever.

That speaks far more to your motives than mine. You're not a mind reader.
If you're going to read between the lines, recognize yourself as the author of whatever you insert.

Come on boys! Let's not start a pissin match and have a member of the forum go away mad , not to return.
Both Tunes & Pro have a lot to offer to the discussion on the forum.
Good day to all!
Shall we agree to dissagree? I think Tunes spoke accurately.

Nail, meet head.

I got you. Your starting price gets rid of certain potential clients you don't want to deal with.
The difference is one of my criteria is my minimum price is 1495

No , It has to do with a fair price for quality service ! 120 hours a month = $38.00 an hour before expenses may be $38,000 a year after expenses?
3 times a month = 54,000 a year plus other miscellaneous gigs that you pick up during the week sound reasonable to me,

I like it! That is exactly what I have done and still booking events.

I wish I could wrap my head around this. A few years back, I jumped my price by several hundred dollars, and without changing what I was offering. Bookings dried up quickly. I really wish I could wrap my head around a premium mentality. My hat is off to guys like you, and Taso, that know how to take a long view and aren't afraid to raise their rates.

It’s takes being in demand and in my case my only business is referrals, but if every inquiry is hey so and so said your were the only guy I should contact about a DJ, it works really well, I’ve done well over 3000 weddings in my career and thousands upon thousands of other gigs, I haven’t had to pay for advertising in decades, never even bothered with a website or anything more than a personal Facebook page
