I just recieved this catalog by mail, I never asked for it and it came to me in my company name. My guess is someone sold me on a mailing list.....

Anyway it looks to be a pretty cool catalog with lots of interactive items and lots of hats and blowup things.... one thing that caught my eye were some Chicken Hats..... I've been looking for those.... and they are only $22/doz

Anybody heard of these guys? Rhode Island Novelty www.rinovelty.com

Thoughts?

Fixed it for you...:triwink:

I got the catalog from them today too. Also have never ordered or signed up for anything from them

This is the original peddler of bulk crap....Oriental Trading Company.
The key word here is 'crap'.

Both of the other companies have better stuff.

Shermann also offers an affiliate program. Sign up, send your clients there, and you'll get a commission. I think it's 10%.

If you REALLY get into it, you can set up a page on your own website that leads the client into the store.

For example, I have a select bunch of items on my page. Click on any item and it takes you to that item in the store. Check it out: http://djdavemiller.com/pages/party_supplies.html

Sorry Dave, not a fan of DJ websites with novelty items on them. I think it takes away from your otherwise classy layout.
How about just a static link to the store site or a pop-out picture of the items?

I understand what you're saying, and agree with you. How much did you poke around my website? I would bet that it would be a challenge for you to get to that page if you weren't looking for it.

Years ago, I had prominent links to the page all over my site, but decided to burry it, for the reasons you mention.

I USED to have a link directly to the store, but I had several clients ask me for recommendations for items, so I created that page.

Il also include the link in any email replies about giveaways.

I used to buy directly from thier showroom since I lived about 10 minutes away. I still have a box of their stuff hanging around. They were a good company to deal with at that time.

Joke
often when going to some sites DJ ones you sign up with info that allows secondary market options for suppliers to send ya the spam through snail mail.

There is no such thing my friend. Ya'll are getting carried away with the word. It is Internet related.
You must mean Junk Mail! :triwink:

Yeah, I got the catalog too. It came to the PO box we use for the business.

Have only received one other catalog from this company; that was several years ago. I wonder if the timing of the DJ Times convention has anything to do with it.

I would bet it did, since they were there.

Ah, but maybe someone you have done business with was also there, and the transaction was made to sell your name.... That, or it was the registration card at RINovelty that I signed you up for...

Liek all trade shows, the list of attendees is likely available to any vendor whos displaysat the show. The same is true about magazine advertsise's and the purchasing of a list of subscribers.

RI Novelty and Sherman will find you if you:

1.) Register for a free expo pass (even if you don't go to the show.)
2.) Subscribe to a magazine they advertise in.
3.) Register with a DJ site they advertise on.
4.) Purchase anything from them by mail or online.

They may also farm you from Yellow pages or online directories. When the economy slows down, people often get more expansive with their mailing lists tomake up for the slow down in regular client sales.
