So I'm new to this whole DMX thing. It's actually only about 5 years since I got in to the light stuff at all. This is the short version as I get further in to it I'm sure there will be alot more
In the last year I have bought 2 lasers. One is the Duobeam MK2 and the other is the ADJ Galaxian both are DMX compatible. At this time they are the only 2 DMX lights I have. Right now I don't plan on buying a controller and running DMX until I buy some more lights.
My question is if I wanted to run these two master/slave although they are two different style lasers would they follow the same general pattern? I tried it tonight and it seemed that the duobeam followed the Galaxian but it seriously lessened the effect of the Duobeam. It just went in circles.
Now the second question. I was using standard XLR cable to go between them. Does it really make a difference? My understanding is the only real difference at this time between XLR and DMX cable is the resistance (80 Ohms to 120 Ohms). It seems to me that it would only make a difference on long runs. Both fixtures are 3 pin DMX
