hey guys Im Tyrone aka DJ Big Ty . I've had the love of DJing since I can remember. I remember rocking parties with cassette tapes. Using a mixer from the pawn shop and two dvd players lol. Just something I love to do. I do it part time and regular gig is announcing conference calls. Sort of like being the MC at weddings I thought how ironic is that. Also run a DJ blog at Cueloops.com. I have stayed on the mobile side of DJing play R&B, Olskool hip hop, GO GO its the DC thing, and soul. My biggest crowd that I get the most gigs from is the DC hand dancing crowd. They are older bunch and always throwing parties for something.

Welcome! I'm just outside of DC on the VA side of the world. Happy to have you here!

Hi,

I am new to the board. About me, I'm a multi-tasker kind of person. I do many things but I try to stay consistent with the things I do. Outside of being a DJ, I'm a soldier, I do communications with that. I work for a school system with a day job full time and on salary though I am not a teacher. I do have PTSD which I got from driving in the great state of Northern Virginia. I got started as a DJ in 2001. It's been a long road from there, because it's something I really do enjoy. I've felt like just throwing the towel in on it so many times, way more than I can count because no matter what I did or what I do it was never good enough. I'm a realist. I have not been able to get this business built up. I want to but it's never happened. I've spent thousands of dollars with no return on investment. I don't understand it, nobody understands it because it's such a lucrative market. Please know my ultimate goal is to try to build a DJ business from absolutely nothing with virtually nothing. (are there different levels of nothing?) I'm a hard line cynic. I want proof on everything. But know I will also be one of the most loyal friends you can get. OK yes I'm crazy. BUT hello My name is Mike

Welcome Mike !

Hi Everyone! I'm a on air radio and mobile DJ located on the East Coast of Canada here in Nova Scotia. Long time lurker, first time poster!
Welcome Cyber .. we have another radio personality from NS here as well @Jeff Romard

Hey Guys -

I'm Bryan - DJ and EDM producer. I do some mobile DJ work, but my passion is making mixes and producing tracks. I used to be in a club scene, but have since moved and did not feel like starting over again, so I don't get to play out as an EDM DJ.

I have been DJing since 2001 and Producing for about 6 months. I learn more and more every day.

Anyways, good to be here.

Welcome to the board Bryan

Mike, an fyi. The biggest and most common mistake I see people make in this business is buying too much gear too early. I guess I was "lucky" enough that I couldn't afford any gear when I started. My only option was to work for someone else. But I'm so glad I did. I was DJing 8 years before I ever bought anything.
I feel that many djs, especially early on, try to impress customers with gear because they can't impress them with dj skills. I tell new Djs to learn with someone else's gear before buying your own
