The problem with ODJT reputation......

If yous all feel rep is being abused I can simply remove the rep button from the templates this way it cannot be used.

IMHO, it is abused -- on both the positive and negative side.

Me, I look at the Thanks, not the stars. But as we are seeing, many (even seasoned vets), don't know the difference, and look at the stars.

In all honesty, it's probably not a mission critical issue here, but on some of the developer forums I use, it is. You can land some serious contracts by being a positive force, and having good rep.

Since people are looking and talking about it, it seems it might be worthwhile to keep it clean without the rep button... Don't know, just throwing out thoughts... :)

Yeah, just get rid of everything, the Chatbox, the social groups, the arcade, etc. Then everyone can be happy!

Thanks Rick. I hear you. A while back, I was part of a couple of webmaster's forums where rep is a big deal for getting freelance work.

I'll wait for some others to chime in but if the general consensus is that we should move ahead without the rep button. I'll see if I can write a script to remove existing rep comments so we can recalculate the rep based on Thanks only.

sam adams

So if I get Rick some Sam Adams willhe hit the rep button?

Some of us think way to deep into the fun loving site this is supposed to be. If ya dont like rep dont use it. If ya dont like to thank folks dont use it. If you dont want into a political debate dont enter. Its really pretty simple. Some enjoy it and those who dont simply dont have to use it. Im quite sure most new folks and apparently most others here havent a clue what any of the stars really mean. So in fact it really has minimal significance at best but hey I use it sometimes to send a message outside the pm box. Oh and for those who say ya can only send one. Tho true if sent thanks first then you cant rep but if you rep and then hit the thanks button GAME ON!!

I've gotten more rep or thanks points from two lines on this thread than in my entire career here. Is this part of the joke? Or does it tell me something about the quality of my posts on other threads? Should I just stay in the Arcade? Where IS the Arcade? And darn, I keep forgetting to thank people and now I have to go back.......

Another thanks already?

Okay, Mr. Jon Tuck. Not only are you funny but you're fast. Or is that an insult?
