I need to say first I didn't put this thread under a gig report because the camera I took pictures with is in the van and I'm still sick. I will go out later to get the camera. It's very early in the morning.

So did this bridal shower yesterday. The client found out from another member of the fellowship that I'm a DJ and got my number. Called me on Friday about doing their bridal shower on Sunday. We were available and I agreed to do the event. Price was agreed upon and it was a go. Got the venue address and late Friday night I went out to get something from the store for my cold. I went to the venue to check it out since I had never been there before. This venue has 3 rooms and I thought the event was to take place in the big room. That wasn't the case. We were in the 2nd room which was smaller. So I thought we needed to bring a sub. It was in the van just in case which was a good thing since this was our first time there.

The event went very well. Now no issues with us getting things setup for the event. The client told me the event was to start at 4 pm and it was scheduled to start at 4:30 pm. I was setup before 4 PM. So we were fine. The issue is the guy didn't come to open the venue till 3 pm which put the people setting up the room behind. The venue and the room was nice with a bunch of nice lights in the ceiling including uplights. They did that to avoid anyone messing with the lights.

The problem I saw was that the people attending the event setting up the decorations in the room had to setup the tables and chairs in the room first before putting on the table clothes and chair covers. Then setup the special chair for the lady who the bridal shower was for. I say the people who work there should have had the tables and chairs setup ahead of time before the people coming in to decorate the room for the event. That was plain tacky to me. The client is renting the space in this venue to have the event. The people who work there should have taken care of the tables and chairs.

So that pushed things behind so the event couldn't start exactly at 4:30 pm. The event went very well in spite of that issue. It went to 9 PM instead of 8:30 pm. I played music while the people setup the room. No big deal. I kept the volume low but eventually had to turn it up because the event in the big room with the setup the DJs brought in was drowning me out. Nothing I could do about that.

The system in the other room consisted of 9 QSC subs and 4 QSC double 15 tops. It was for a big event with strippers and people smoking out of a hookah. It was wild. So had to put up with the sound in the next room. I just had the 2 Yamaha DSR 115's I used and that was enough for that room.

Not a lot of crazy dancing but all the women enjoyed themselves. Got a nice compliment by a lady at the end and she took a business card. So all in all the event was a success and I had a great time as well doing my job. I will post a few pictures later when I get the camera out the van. Too tired to worry about that last night. Very nice weekend doing back to back events and the money was nice as well.

At the end the lady paid through Cash app. She said that's how everyone pays today. I just got setup for that and waiting on my card to come. I'm old school. Just pay me with cash and be done with it. Just got to adjust to the new way of doing business. UGH!

Yeah, Cash App has really taken over as a form of payment. All of my bar/restaurant gigs lately have been paid via Cash App. I also ordered the card so I could avoid paying the fee for Instant deposit into my bank account.

Seems like your basic no-pressure, no-drama, easy-money gig!
I assume she opened up gifts in front of everyone,
so that really kills the chance for a lot of dancing!
But that's what makes it an "easy money" gig.

I'm not sure about that specific venue...
but there are places where you rent NOTHING more than the space.
The people who work there, do nothing more than babysit.

Many people use venmo too.

I accept all forms of payment. Cash app, venmo, PayPal, CC, Apple pay. Cash. Check. Doesn't matter.

You don't need to wait for the card. The card is just if you wanted to use the money rather than depositing to your bank account. I have the money transferred to my account right away. I don't pay the fee to be able to use it instantly. 2 cause it's fine.

Finding out at the gig how they want to pay and then having to sign up for that is not the way to do things.

I totally agree with the last statement you made. My focus when I got the call was to feel better so I could do the event on Saturday. I should have taken care of business in a better way and I accept my part in it. I was just amazed at how great a job I did at both events considering I was sick.

Do you charge an extra $5 to be setup in the same space on the same date but at 2 different times?

I mean, you could double your income.

So, you were not prepared/ready to accept, nor did you determine beforehand the client's preferred payment method...

If she needed change to break a $20, you could have asked one of the strippers at this classy venue to help you with that transaction. In all fairness she should have been able to just let you keep the change, given you "got a nice compliment by a lady at the end and she took a business card."

The great news for you Mixy is that Cash App will report the income to the IRS for you. That will save you some time. Also now we know the pay for the job is under $250.00 and hell you went an extra Half hour too.
There you go with your s*** trying to guess how much the job paid. As usual wrong again.

I don't understand all of what you said but I will say this. The place was a decent hall for people to have an event in. I don't know about classy now. I've been to better and worse places then this one. It fit somewhere in the middle. A decent place to have an event but there are better places then this one. This place you bring in your own paper plates and plastic silverware. No servers with real dinnerware and glasses to drink out of. I give the place 1 to 2 stars.

So I was right with pay being around $200... mix why’d you lie and say we were wrong. In case you say we’re wrong again... then please be aware that cash app has a limit of $250 so you can’t tell us it’s more than that... unless you were ok with not accessing the money for 30 days

He doesn't want ANY income reported. If it is, they will know he is defrauding the government by collecting disability and an income.

Are these new limits? I've received more than $250 from customers via Cash app in the past and was able to do Instant Deposit to my bank for a fee.

You can receive more than $250 if the sender is "validated" (submits SSN and bank info).

On their app it says anything over 250 has a 30 day hold unless MIX is verified (not the sender). So I’m not sure if he wants to do that for tax purposes since it does require social security info.
On their website they have: (I was incorrect about the bank info) .. so looks like both sides need validation depending on the limit needed.

Cash App lets you send up to $250 within any 7-day period and receive up to $1,000 within any 30-day period. You can increase these limits by verifying your identity using your full name, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of your SSN. If we are unable to verify your account using this information, we may ask you to provide additional information. We’re unable to verify anybody under the age of 18.

Like Steve said... the user would need to be verified, but what does it increase the limit to... I’m not sure.
Personally I would never use this as it requires a special card to access money or pay a fee. Everyone I know uses Venmo or PayPal or square.

it was more than $250 sir. No reason to lie. We got the money that night. My partner has a Cash App card and he got my portion to me buy transfering my portion to his card.

I’ve never taken payments via cash app or Venmo. I’ve used them to send money. Square, PayPal, and Apple Pay I have.

got money from the others for personal/family stuff
