Ok...so I have my original computer I used for djing.

Now I have added a second one..which somehow did not get all the music from the first one. I have also purchased a few songs and already to the new computer library.

My friend also has songs purchased on my account, and some downloaded cds that I have not been able to add to my computer.

OK..so we have three computers that need to be converged.

What is the best way to attack this.

What do you use to wipe out duplicates with the same ID TAG of the same song.

I understand this is going to be lots of other doubles because of different albums and what not...but we can go through that in the next few weeks. But right now..it would be super sweet to at the very least get all these libraries on the same track.

Thanks

lol it wouldnt just take a few weeks for me to go over mine.....

See told ya PC all the way!!

OK..I found a super easy program.

Idupes sucks.

Dupin is awesome!

I just converged two libraries...and I need to double check my old mac to be darn sure all the music was transferred. So that will be done tonight.

Once that is done...I can re-add the library to this computer..and start going through dupes.

When I finish that...I can save the itunes on the external and distribute to the other clean computers again.

At least this is getting more manageable.

I picked up another 3500 doubles from the other two drives so far.

I dont know why when I transferred music before from the old mac to the external it did not all copy.

Because for sure there is some purchase music that didnt transfer..and some polkas. LOL>

I need to try something like that to get rid of dupes, never thought of that. Just out of curiosity, what software do you use to dj with the mac DJMN? I just purchased a brand new HP laptop 3 days ago, and i love it! My main computer is an HP Quad Core desktop which has served me well and the laptop is my new backup to take with me to gigs...I was debating between the HP and a macbook pro and the only reason i didn't go with the mac is because i run Roxbox for Karaoke and Virtual dj for my music and didn't know how all of my software would do with the mac or if i would have to purchase everything again. Anyways, just wondering what you use....

You are going to love this. ITUNES! BWAH HA HA HA! Really though.

It irritates many here..but it works just fine for me

The first time I seen a guy do this...I was like.."what an idiot."

So one night I though..heck I'd try it.

I was laughing at myself all darn night thinking..what a cheap a$$ dj. At the end of the night..no one noticed..and it went extremely well. Never looked back since.

Its basically flawless...and I sometimes see people having some "slight bugs" with other software programs..and that kinda makes me scared.

So yea. Itunes it is. Nothing to exciting. And the only reason I use Macs...is because I can score 2 year old used macs in excellent condition for cheap as heck!

I would have to say for djing purposes...I would recommend a PC for dj programs. The seem to be the best out there in my opinion.

haha, i have used Windows Media player before at a few events that didn't need anything but a little music here and there ( when we're running sound for bands and things like that ) , and honestly i could dj off of that if i had to so i guess i could see where it works. If it works well for ya then i'm not gonna knock ya, heck i've never really tried it so how could I. Pc's have always worked well for me except for Acer's....i've had really bad luck with Acer's. I do have an imac desktop but that is my home computer, i've never tried dj'ing off of it

There is only one other thing I hate about PCs....all those darn virus protectors that keep reminding you need to update every 10 minutes it seems. I hate that to no end.

Oh..or renew your subscription today crap.

But otherwise..absolutely nothing wrong with PCs.

We have had major luck with HPs.

Yeah, HP's are the only computers that have never let me down. And i've always had Norton on my computers and i have to agree it is beyond annoying! This new one i got came with 3 years of Mcafee antivirus included and i deleted the norton that came on it completely, so hopefully mcafee is better about the stuff, but we will see....

I hope so too. Maybe a few others can chime in and offer some advice on the PC annoyance thing. I am all ears if a guy can get rid of some of that crap.
