What A Crock!!! (I think...)

Yes, I opened another paid ad, this time under photography. I offered to pay up front and they didn't offer any discount. If my service offerings were still $750, I'd have a hard time justifying the ad expense. At our bundled pricing, it finally makes sense. BTW, it's $79/mth for WW.

Way less expensive in your area.

Professional
$137.50/mo.

Featured Ad
$320.83/mo.

Those are prices for DJ in my area. Last time I was quoted around $117 a month for professional after all the discounts. Even if they offered me a 50% discount on the featured I wouldn't bite on it. Way too much money.

Someone took that Spot Light spot they offered me for $8,300 or whatever the ridiculous price was...That's nuts.

Photo site is 12 years old, dj site 2 I think.
I also find a lot more 'organic' photog sites than DJ- a search for that pulls up almost nothing but wedj/gig/knot/etc, etc type sites.
So yeah, page 4...who looks that far?

Google's ranking algorhytim is always changing - i don't have time to research it or keep up with it. "not my job" - just like designing new speakers or manufactuing lighting or writing DJ software - not my job either.

I've tried to implement the things I've heard - descpriptive text, labels on pics that are descpritive, etc. What teh SEO co told me was keywords are not as important, and can down-rate you compred to 2 or 3 years ago. And you need a description on EVERY page - and it should be DIFFERENT on every page..so you have a home page, great. it says ' great beaver dj for your party or wedding' - ok, so the reception page, pricing page, contact page, etc each need to have something different in their description, not just a clone of that line.

And yes, links to/from still count.
file dates count..haven't changed your site in 2 years? dead to google. Part of the reason my photo site ranks well is I change it every couple of months - every couple of weeks is better yet, but I get busy.

Do all those goofy sites' listings do any good? Who knows for sure - when we do a review in 2 weeks I'll ask him to show me what I saw 2-3 weeks ago and see what the changes are.

I can say I'm getting a few more requests from odd pages I've never bothered to list myself on. No gigs yet, but inquiries. So SOMETHING is happening.

Chris I have no dog in the fight but hear me out...SEO companies make it out like it's some kind of voodoo it's not it's real simple. The thing about consultants is they fix from the top down not the bottom up because the day they solve the problem the aren't really needed anymore.

Right now when I do a search for DJ in Beaver PA you come up the first listing on page 4...Your photography site actually ranks better in a DJ search than your DJ site

Unless you have backlinks on those 300+ sites they make NO difference to your SEO not even a bit. If there is a bad review or incorrect info they can't get it down any more than you can. There is one site I spent 3 years trying to get them to change an address with no results...The SEO company will have no different results

Yes the engines constantly change and unless you get real lucky you will never be on top on all of them. Focus on Google they have a 70% share and you will rank well on the others also because they all look at the basics first...And I'll give you a hint the SEO outfit wont tell you about fix your basics because that's the majority of the problem with most sites
